Tingaki Overview
Peaceful holidays: This calm, tranquil resort is only around 10km away from Kos Town. That means you can enjoy all the attractions and activities of the capital of Kos whilst also having the option to retreat to relaxing holidays in Tingaki when you fancy chilling out.
Natural delights: Tingaki holidays are in one of the more rural areas of Kos. This means you’re surrounded by acres of lush green countryside consisting of colourful flowers and huge trees. Tingaki holidays are close to a large salt lake, Alyki, which is a protected wetland which is a haven for all sorts of birds and plant life.
Attractions in Tingaki
Castle Palaio Pyli: This medieval castle lies just south to the centre of the island, around 5km away from Tingaki holidays, which are directly north. Now just an arid cobblestone rubble of its former self, nevertheless it’s possible to see a Byzantine church and 14th century frescoes within its grounds.
Casa Romana: Although this spectacular site is in Kos Town, we thought we’d mention it here as Tingaki holidays are only 10km away from the capital of the island. An opulent Roman villa built in the 2nd century AD, inside you’ll discover an ancient water cistern and lots of elaborate mosaics which are in remarkably good condition.
Activities in Tingaki
Alyki Salt Lake: This protected ecological park has a huge wetland that attracts a wild variety of birds. Of particular interest are the bright pink flamingos which come to settle here all the way up to June and July. It’s a majestic sight, and certainly a major attraction for those who want to go on bird watching holidays.
Lido Water Park: This huge water park is located in Mastichari on the northern side of the coast of Kos. It’s around 10km from Tingaki, so it’s only a short taxi ride to reach the Lido if you’re having your holidays in Tingaki. Built in 2005, the park has a wide range of watery attractions including the kamikaze, a wave pool, a lazy river and the scary black hole! It’ll make for a fun activity for children on Tingaki holidays too.
Kos Islands Riding Centre: Also based close to Tingaki holidays, this professionally-run horse riding centre has a variety of well cared-for ponies and horses. Exploring the island on horseback is an ideal way to see lush inland forestry during your Kos holidays. Plus it’ll save the strain on your legs!
Christos Go Karts: This popular go-kart track has enjoyed over 15 successful years of business, and it’s also very close to Tingaki holidays. It’s a great course for children on holidays here because there are slower battery powered karts for ages 3-6, as well as mini-karts for ages up to 9 and two choices of full speed karts for adults and teenagers.
Beaches in Tingaki
Tingaki Beach: One of the most popular beaches in Kos on your Tingaki holidays. It’s a 10km stretch of pure white sand with shallow crystalline waters which lead far out to sea. The fact that the water doesn’t get too deep also makes this beach ideal for young children to paddle in during family holidays in Tingaki.
Marmari Beach: Another popular spot for sunbathing on Tingaki holidays, Marmari Beach has the very tranquil surroundings of pine-covered forests and rocky mountains. Then the scenic picture is completed with light golden sand and incredibly clear, calm water.
Mastichari Beach: Around 10km from Tingaki, this wide expanse can be pretty popular during the summer holidays. But then there’s a lot to love about this particular stretch of coastline, such as the pristine white sand and calm turquoise water. The beach is also well facilitated with sun beds, parasols and even a windsurfing centre.
Restaurants in Tingaki
Nisiotiko: This pleasant Greek taverna has pretty much an entire open terrace for its seating area. Luckily the food is just as inviting as your surroundings, with many classic dishes served such as chicken souvlaki and rosemary lamb.
Sagittarius Pizzeria: Despite being called a Pizzeria, this restaurant based on the outskirts of the area around Tingaki holidays offers a wide variety of different dishes on its eclectic menu. It’s perfectly possible to order curry, pizza, or mousakka here and have just as an enjoyable meal.
Meni: This incredibly popular restaurant also has a surprisingly varied menu. As well as Greek classics such as souvakli and mousakka, you can also choose huge pizzas, curries and British favourites like steak and chips.
Nightlife in Tingaki
Quiet bars: Being a peaceful resort close to a nature reserve, you won’t find a particularly rowdy nightlife scene on Tingaki holidays, but then that’s not really the appeal. However, there are still a number of decent pubs and bars, including the popular Memories, Mascot and Kovotis. And that’s not forgetting your more British-style pubs such as Beer Garden and Cosy Bar.
