Stalis Mini Golf: You’ll find most of the larger attractions and activities Holidays to Crete in Hersonissos or Malia, but this little mini golf course bucks the trend by being right on your doorstep. The course is on a pleasant grassy stretch with gaudy red and yellow obstacles and borders providing plenty of challenge and lots of fun!

Dikteon Cave: It’s worth taking the short journey during holidays in Stalis to see this famous and beautifully lit cave. Inside you’ll see stalactites and stalagmites coming from both the floor and ceiling that look like dripping, molten wax. The cave has been impressively lit with yellow, green and red lights, but its real claim to fame is that this cave is often said to be the birthplace of Zeus, the leader of the gods in Greek mythology.

Happy Train: This affectionately-named mini-train service provides a useful transport link between holidays in Stalis and Malia. It’s also a great way to see the smaller surrounding towns such as Mochos and the leafy mountain village of Krasi. Plus children on family holidays will find it immensely entertaining to ride on a train that seems more suited to their size!

Beaches in Stalis


Stalis Beach: This narrow sand-and-shingle beach is a pleasant enough spot for sunbathing during your holidays in Stalis, and being based right within the resort it’s certainly convenient. It can get pretty busy in the summer holidays but the stunning mountain backdrop and the excellent facilities and beach bars more than make up for it.

Tropical Beach: If you fancy somewhere with a little more space and softer sand, you could always head to the beach in Malia. The entrance to this wide, golden beach is marked by a colourful wooden boat and a bright neon sign. During the summer holidays especially you’ll hear loud dance music and the roar of jet skis too!

Korali restaurant: One of the specialities of Greece is expertly cooked shish kebab, and Korali restaurant offers one of the best examples of this delicacy on Stalis holidays. You can take your choice from juicy skewered chicken, beef or lamb, served with mouth-watering spices, fresh crispy salad and a variety of sauces. More good news – the prices are very low too, making this place perfect for cheap holidays in Stalis!

Restaurant Creta: With outdoor tables based right by the sea, Restaurant Creta is in a truly stunning location, making your meal extra-memorable during your holidays in Stalis. Luckily the food is just as special, with authentic Greek dishes like roast lamb flavoured with rosemary, creamy moussaka and a great selection of dolmades.

Katerina Taverna: This classic Greek restaurant has a relaxed, homely atmosphere which instantly puts you at ease – the perfect complement to relaxing Stalis holidays. It’s also another great place on Stalis holidays where you can try famous dishes such as chicken souvlaki (skewered chicken).

Nightlife in Stalis


Plenty of choice: While the nightlife on Stalis holidays certainly isn’t as lively as it is on holidays in Malia or Hersonissos, there’s still plenty of choice when it comes to bars, pubs and clubs. If you like your music loud and bass-heavy, you’d be best off going to the more dance-focused bars like Bar Code, the beachfront Africa Bar and Bliss Bar. But maybe you’d prefer to just relax in cosy surroundings during balmy evenings on Stalis holidays? In which case, you’ll find the British-style pubs like the Rose and Crown, the Scottish-themed Mambo and Dwyer’s Irish pub will all be right up your street!

Souvenir shops: Stalis holidays have many tourist-focused shops where you’ll be able to pick up lots of cheap souvenirs to bring back home with you. Some of the best buys include beaded bracelets, handmade trinkets and figurines. Look out for shops such as Lavris, Domenico, and Epiloges – all of them specialise in great value souvenirs if you’re on a tight budget on cheap holidays in Stalis.

Supermarkets: A great way to save money on self catering holidays in Stalis is to visit the local supermarkets. Places like Kipseli, Yassu and Vasilis all offer a wide variety of fresh Greek food that’ll make the perfect picnics or just a unique lunchtime snack. Even food as simple as a few (incredibly large) tomatoes, feta cheese and fresh bread can make a low cost, yet tasty combination on cheap holidays in Stalis.
