Puerto Naos Overview
Peaceful holidays: With only two resorts on the whole island, La Parma holidays are much quieter in general than holidays to the other Canary Islands. As such, Puerto Naos holidays are a great choice if you just want to get away from it all. Puerto Naos also has some spectacular views of rugged, rocky coastline looking out to the sea and a majestic national park, making the ideal holidays for nature lovers.
Activities in Puerto Naos
Caldera National Park: This national park dominates the centre of La Parma, and is only a short drive away from the hotels in Puerto Naos. Standing high on the rocky cliffs, the sight of endless forests of pine is a wonderful sight to behold. The shield volcano within the park was created over 2 million years ago! It’s attractions like this that make for truly memorable holidays.
Paragliding: The thermal air and wind currents on Puerto Naos holidays create ideal conditions for paragliding. The mountainous scenery and vast swathes of green forest make for amazing sights from up above. In fact, paragliding holidays to Puerto Naos are so popular, international tournaments are held here every year.
Beaches in Puerto Naos
Puerto Naos Beach: This very pleasant and quiet beach has the black volcanic sand the La Parma coastlines are known for. Palm trees line the promenade to add to its beauty, and the shallow crystal clear water is good for a dip too. Walk along Puerto Naos Beach and you’ll come to a large volcanic rock unusually jutting out of the sand. Even more unexpectedly, a small shrine has been carved into the top!
Charco Verde: Another small black sandy beach, just to the south of Puerto Naos. Access to the Charco Verde has been improved in recent years and there’s a nice little cafe nearby so you won’t have to travel far for your refreshments.
Restaurants in Puerto Naos
Orinoco: Don’t be put off by the basic decor of this traditional Canarian restaurant. There are some fantastic dishes to try here, including swordfish, squid rings and juicy sirloin steak. The authentic desserts are a real treat – Bienmasabe (crushed almonds with honey) and Principe Alberto (chocolate mouse with almonds) are two of the best.
Taberna del Puerto: Just a 20 minute drive north of Puerto Naos, this rustic restaurant has wonderful views of the Atlantic sea, which hints at its expertise: fresh seafood. Barracuda, Sea Bream and Lobster are all served here. But that’s not all you’ll discover, as there are some interesting vegetarian dishes like Garlic Soup and Canarian Salad. The palm tree lined terrace makes it ideal for evening meals on romantic holidays.
Cocomar: The quaint little neighbouring village of Bombilla has an excellent restaurant named Cocomar. With sleek wooden tables in the terrace by the sea, eating outside is an attractive option here!
