Nea Moudania Overview

Beach holidays: Nea Moudania holidays are based on the Kassandra Peninsula, an area of outstanding beauty with many peaceful sandy beaches nearby. The golden sandy stretch at Nea Moudania will be a real highlight on holidays here, but the beaches a little further south in Nea Portidea and Nea Fokea are just as attractive.

Relaxing holidays: Nea Moudania holidays are not particularly lively for nightlife, but then that only adds to the serenity of the peaceful surroundings. The town seemingly appears out of the verdant forestry and endless olive groves.

Amazing sights: Just because Nea Moudania is small, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t got much to offer. If you’re having your holidays in Nea Moudania you’ll discover a Byzantine church, a bustling harbour and an ancient archaeological site all nearby.

Attractions on Nea Moudania holidays

Basilica of Panagia: This wonderfully ornate Byzantine church is certainly a majestic, captivating sight to see on your holidays in Nea Moudania. Consisting of curved lines, arches and intricate patterns, gilded pictures and pristine red and white brickwork, it’s fair to say the church is a striking structure in the centre of town.

Olynthos: Around 5km from where you’ll be having your holidays in Nea Moudania, Olynthos was once an important ancient Greek city in Halkidiki. The Greek occupation dates back to the 7th century BC. Excavations began on the site in 1928, and although only a tenth of the full city has been revealed there have been some remarkable archaeological finds here, most of which you can still see for yourself today. The walled structures of ancient Olynthos have obviously been reduced to rubble, but some of the earliest Greek mosaics have been discovered here, and other artefacts have been collected into a small museum actually at the site.

Activities on Nea Moudania holidays

Nea Moudania Amphitheatre: Whilst not the ancient Amphitheatre you may expect to see on holidays in Greece, this huge open-air stadium is still an impressive attraction nonetheless. With two thousand seats, the amphitheatre really comes into its own in the summer months, when it’s used to host all manner of entertainment events and concerts.

Nea Moudania harbour: Nea Moudania has one of the largest harbours in Greece, and for a country with myriad islands and hundreds of miles of coastline, that’s really saying something! It’s well worth a visit to see all the busy activity, as fishermen go about their daily work and boats of all sizes and shapes come to dock.

Beaches on Nea Moudania holidays

Nea Moudania Beach: This long, golden sandy stretch is a very popular place to spend beach holidays in Nea Moudania. It’s very well facilitated too, with sun beds and parasols available for hire, and fully functioning showers and toilets. Being a centre of tourist activity, it’s also quite easy to find some quaint cafes and authentic Greek tavernas close to the beachside.

Nea Potidea/Portes Beach: Around 9km from where Nea Moudania holidays are based, Portes Beach is a great option if you fancy a change of scenery during your sunbathing. It also has gloriously golden sand and clear, calm waters perfect for a spot of swimming, or just basking in the sun.

Nea Fokea Beach: A little further south along the peninsula from Nea Potidea, you’ll reach Nea Fokea Beach. A total of 15km from Nea Moudania holidays, this beach has radiant white sand and calm azure waters. The beauty of the scenery is heightened by the Byzantine Tower fortress (built in 1407) you’ll observe in the distance whilst you’re sunbathing on your Nea Moudania holidays.
