Pretty Spanish town: There are two sides to Mojacar holidays 2019 – the seaside resort aimed squarely at tourists, and the beautiful traditional town where whitewashed villas cascade down the mountainside. Most holidays to Mojacar are situated on the coastal side near to the beach, but it’s just a short walk to see the town of old.

Great beaches: The dusky golden coastline of Mojacar runs for 7km and it’s the main reason why holidays on this side are so popular. Water sports enthusiasts will find they’re well catered for out to sea too.

Marina Golf Mojacar: Marina Golf Club has an open, expansive 18-hole course with wide, flat fairways and well-maintained greens. What makes it a real delight though, is the views you can enjoy of the sea and mountains out in the distance.

Marina Golf Mojacar: Opened in 2000, many people enjoy this golf course so much they base their holidays to Mojacar around it! The course itself has been cleverly designed to afford panoramic views of the mountainous vista around it. Plus, some of the holes are actually played alongside the sea. The 4th hole is often considered the most challenging, as it’s 458m long, making for a difficult drive from the tee.

Beaches in Mojacar

Cueva del Lobo: This wide, long beach is pretty popular in the summer largely due to its huge size of 1.75km. Being one of the most favoured beaches for people on their holidays in Mojacar also means it’s been well built up with showers, toilets and parking spaces. It’s also served by bars and restaurants along the beachfront.

El Cantal: Another huge beach, this one is actually almost double the length of Cueva del Lobo – 2.8km. It’s quite a magnet for tourists during the summer holidays, and there are lots of water sports offered along this particular part of water.

El Descargador: One of the most beautiful beaches in Mojacar, El Descargador has fabulous views of the plain of Vera, a mountainous area topped with lush green pines. This beach is also one of the closest to the old village of Mojacar, so you’d be well advised to have a wander around there on your way from the beach as it’s an incredibly charming rustic town.

Restaurants in Mojacar

La Capilla: A unique eating experience for the decor, let alone the food. The building which houses this traditional Spanish restaurant used to be a nunnery, and still retains an atmospheric air and religious paraphernalia. The garden is also a leafy paradise, with overflowing green plants and vines interspersed with Roman-style statues and a pristine pond. The food here is just as divine, and the tapas menu incorporates favourites like fried squid and spicy chorizo sausage. A very special dining occasion, which you won’t want to miss, even if you’re on all inclusive holidays in Mojacar.

La Bola: This Italian restaurant is a cut above your standard tourist fare during beach holidays. Enjoy dining in classy surrounding while trying delicious dishes such as Lamb with Honey Glaze and Pork Fillet Wrapped in Cheese and Ham.

La Cabana: Argentinean food is becoming ever more popular, and this restaurant is a fantastic example of the country’s cuisine. Their speciality is succulent, perfectly cooked steak as Argentina is famed for the quality of its beef. The large slabs of beef actually work out to be rather good value, keeping costs down on cheap holidays to Mojacar. There’s also an extensive wine menu for you to choose the ideal tipple to match your steak.

Nightlife in Mojacar

Traditional bars: Luckily Mojacar holidays have retained an authentic Spanish character. This is the case even in the bars you’ll find dotted along the beach and in the old village. A fine example of this is Bar La Finca, with whitewashed walls and exposed brickwork it has a very rustic feel. Then there’s Bar El Cid, which is in a lovely beachfront location overlooking the sea and has a suitably relaxed atmosphere to go with it. Even the Irish-themed bars have Spanish-style decor, like the Irish Rover which has the unusual combination of a traditional sugar cube shaped exterior with pub furniture inside!

Shopping in Mojacar

Independent shops: Along the beachfront of Mojacar Playa you’ll find many shops selling souvenirs and swimwear aimed at tourists on beach holidays. Many are independent, unbranded shops and as such it’s entirely possible to find some original items here. For example, Gatsby’s Boutique sells specially designed, handmade swimwear while Luan offers Ladies’ high-end couture fashion. While shops such as Maria Rosa and Bisu are the ideal places to pick up gifts to bring back from holidays in Mojacar, and have a large varied range of novel items from ceramics to crafted handbags and jewellery.
