Lake Buena Vista Overview
Disney holidays: Lake Buena Vista holidays are all about Disney holidays, as Lake Buena Vista is actually a city based within Disneyworld. Stay here and you’ll be practically on the doorstep of all the major Disney theme parks, including the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
Family holidays: As you’d expect from a Disney destination, Lake Buena Vista holidays are very family friendly, with lots of activities and facilities to keep your little ones happy.
Beautiful surroundings: You may also be surprised to find that Lake Buena Vista holidays have acres of achingly beautiful natural surroundings. Take a stroll around the Lake Buena Vista and you’ll see grassy green spaces, mirror-like lakes and well tended gardens. Everything’s very conveniently located too, from restaurants and shopping complexes to bars and entertainment centres, Lake Buena Vista holidays are set up so you need never leave the resort.
Attractions on Lake Buena Vista holidays
Magic Kingdom: Although each theme park is not one single attraction but actually a combination of many attractions, we thought we’d mention the four major theme parks here so you can decide which ones you want to visit during your Disney holidays. Or maybe if you’re on Lake Buena Vista holidays for a little longer you could visit all of them! So we’ll start with the Magic Kingdom, which is actually the world’s most popular theme park. It’s here you’ll see the world-famous symbol of Disney, the iconic Cinderella Castle. The Magic Kingdom is divided into lots of themed sections, like Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Fantasyland. They all have their own exciting rides like the Pirates of the Caribbean (amazingly the ride came first, before the film), Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Mad Tea Party and Space Mountain.
Epcot: The second theme park to be built within the Disneyworld grounds, Epcot is the third most popular theme park in the world. Offering a more cultural slant on Disney holidays, the park is divided into two sections: Future World and World Showcase. Future World is all about the technological advancements that have been made over the past 100 years, with attractions such as Spaceship Earth, Test Track (an exciting ride simulating car test tracks) and Mission: SPACE (a simulated space ride with forces up to 2.5G). In contrast, the World Showcase has much more of a focus on culture and features pavilions of eleven countries including France, Mexico and Morocco. In fact, it’s a great place to go if you’d like to try out the cuisine of each country, or even pick up some authentic souvenirs.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: The third theme park to be built in Disneyworld is all about cinema, as you may expect with a name like Hollywood Studios! Many of the rides are an exciting combination of movie visuals and interactive experiences. In fact, one of the newest attractions in the park is The American Idol Experience, which recreates almost the American Idol TV series almost exactly. You can either sing yourself or watch in the audience and vote on your favourite singers. The winner of each day even gets to progress to the real thing on TV! The park is also a great place to watch entertainment during your Lake Buena Vista holidays, including stunt shows for Indiana Jones and Disney animations.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: The largest single theme park on Disney holidays, the Animal Kingdom is also the newest of its four main sites. You can spot lots of exotic animals here, including kangaroos, lemurs, anteaters, hippos, lions, elephants, gorillas and komodo dragons. The kingdom is split into different sections, such as Asia and Africa which correlate to the animals you’ll see in each area. There are some really exciting rides here to enjoy on Lake Buena Vista holidays, especially in the dinosaur section, which has the famous DINOSAUR attraction that passes through a prehistoric inspired era.
Activities on Lake Buena Vista holidays
Disney’s Blizzard Beach: A fantastic water park with some seriously speedy rides to enjoy on your Lake Buena Vista holidays. Based around artificial slopes and mountains, the slides include Summit Plummet, the second tallest and fastest slide in the world, a white water raft ride called Teamboat Springs, a relaxing ‘lazy river’ style ride and some full-paced, high octane mat slides.
Typhoon Lagoon: The most popular water park in the world and with good reason too. In the centre of the park there’s a huge shrimp boat sitting atop the peak of a mountain, and every half hour you’ll see a massive 15m jet of water spray into the air from the peak! The Humunga Kowabunga is also one of the most exciting slides, reaching speeds up to 55mph, while the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool also has waves which reach up to 6 feet high! Amazingly, there’s even Shark Reef, a saltwater reef where you can swim with sharks and stingrays during your Lake Buena Vista holidays.
Lake Buena Vista Golf Course: Everything on Disney holidays is beautifully clean and pristine, and this is certainly the case with the golf course within the grounds too. Taking advantage of the natural wetlands in the area, many of the holes on the course have huge shimmering lakes that add extra challenge to your game of golf. A host for PGA Tour events, the golf course was also rated 4 stars by Golf Digest.
Beaches on Lake Buena Vista holidays
Kissimmee Lakefront: The east coast of Florida is over 40 miles away, but you can still enjoy a beachside experience on Lake Buena Vista holidays at this man-made beach in Kissimmee, around 10 miles away. The whole area is very well facilitated too with a children’s playground, restaurants, picnic tables and even an open-air barbecue!
St Cloud Lakefront Beach: St Cloud is another idyllic place to enjoy a lakeside beach with natural white sand. It’s a real pleasure to enjoy the scenic views of the Tohopekaliga Lake whilst enjoying a picnic close to the waterfront.
Cocoa Beach: This beautiful coastal town around an hour’s drive from Lake Buena Vista holidays has lots to keep you entertained. As well as having a gorgeous sandy white beach there are also some museums, golf courses and zoos to explore nearby.
Typhoon Lagoon: If you’d just like to stay within the Disneyworld resort on your Lake Buena Vista holidays, you’ll probably prefer to visit the man-made beaches in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. Blustery Bay and Whitecap Cove both have tidal pools with artificial white sandy beaches, as well as one area in Hideaway Bay specifically named Sandy White Beach. They’re the perfect places to visit if you fancy a beachside experience conveniently close to your hotel.
Restaurants on Lake Buena Vista holidays
Cinderella’s Royal Table: A real highlight of any trip to Disneyworld and Lake Buena Vista holidays, especially for little girls, Cinderella’s Royal Table features all the famous princesses from the Disney films. As expected of Disney, the service is excellent, with the high quality food coming fast. You can enjoy dishes including corn on the cob, tenderloin and chocolate mousse. But of course, the real draw here is the experience, and the excitement for children to see their much-loved characters from Disney.
Victoria and Albert’s: This incredible nouvelle cuisine restaurant in Disney’s Floridian hotel is an amazing dining experience to enjoy on Lake Buena Vista holidays. The dishes are very creative, and often presented artistically on the plate. Some of the exciting ingredients include Minnesota elk, banana gateau and sesame crusted tuna filet. It’s not surprising that Victoria and Albert’s is often considered the best restaurant in Florida, let alone Disneyworld.
Le Cellier Steakhouse: Another highly regarded restaurant based within the Disney complex. It’s also a lot cheaper than Victoria and Albert’s, so it’s a good choice if you don’t want to spend quite as much on dining as at Disney’s signature restaurant. Tasty options include steak fillet, maple créme bulee, and cheese soup!
Nightlife on Lake Buena Vista holidays
Downtown Disney: A great place to visit in the evenings during your stay on Lake Buena Vista holidays, Downtown Disney has all manner of attractions, restaurants, bars and entertainment. Downtown Disney is made up of Downtown Disney Marketplace, Downtown Disney West Side and Pleasure Island. For all-action nightlife, you’re best off heading to West Side, although Pleasure Island is almost as frenetic. The best bars in the area include Raglan Road (an Irish theme pub), House of Blues (live music every night) and Bongos Urban Cafe (a lively club with a dance floor and music provided by a DJ). While these are all great places to enjoy a drink or two, there are also some exciting establishments which offer a range of evening entertainment. Specifically, we’re thinking of La Nouba (a special circus tent created by the Cirque du Soleil performers) and AMC Pleasure Island 24, which has 24 huge cinema screens.
Shopping on Lake Buena Vista holidays
Souvenir shopping: Unsurprisingly there are plenty of places to pick up official Disney merchandise within Disneyworld. You’ll find shops in almost every area selling unique, collectible pins, baseball caps, key rings, stationery, t-shirts, postcards and lots more memorabilia besides! You’ll also go through gift shops at the end of most rides, offering you the opportunity to get a souvenir to remind you of the exciting time you just had! However, if you’re after something a little different on Lake Buena Vista holidays, Disney more than provides in this area too. Visit the Epcot theme park and you’ll see authentic souvenir shops for each of the eleven countries represented in the World Showcase. And some shops to look out for in the individual resorts include Zawadi Marketplace which has lots of African themed merchandise, as well as Wyland Galleries and Grand Canyon Concourse.
