Laganas Overview

Clubbing holidays: Laganas holidays are some of the best in Greece for clubbing holidays. Amazingly, there are over 100 bars and clubs all packed onto one lively street. There’s a great choice of music too, everything from pop classics to R’n’B, grime and dance played loud on fantastic sound systems. All along the strip you’ll be offered extremely cheap drinks deals too, which makes cheap holidays to Laganas even more tempting!

Beach holidays: Laganas holidays also have the longest beach of all Zante holidays, and it’s a stunning stretch of coastline. The powder soft golden sand is very expansive, with a wide width offering plenty of space for sunbathing. The beach is also a loggerhead turtle nesting site – they always seem to pick the very best beaches with the softest sand!

Activities in Laganas

Smugglers’ Cove: Actually a sandy beach, we’d class this beautiful bay as more of an attraction to see on your holidays in Laganas as it’s the site of one of the most photographed spots on Greece holidays. The main focal point is the wreck which has been docked since 1981, when smugglers trying to escape the authorities ran out of fuel along this cove. Smuggler’s Cove is a major attraction for people on their holidays in Laganas thanks to the beauty of the imposing chalky mountains, the pure white sands and intensely azure waters.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Water Park: This water park is part of the Perkes hotel complex in Laganas, but you can still visit the water park if you’re not having all inclusive holidays at the hotel. Although rather small, the water park has a good selection of colourful slides – more than enough for a few hours of fun for everyone!

F1 Go Kart: This well maintained go kart track has some fantastic winding bends that can test your driving skills to the limits! The go-karting centre is very professionally managed, whilst the variety of karts on offer range from 120cc up to a speedy 300cc for all abilities and ages.

Beaches in Laganas

Laganas Beach: This large golden beach is actually the longest in Zante – over 5km in total. All this extra space means you’ve plenty of space to stretch out while you sunbathe, even during the busy summer holidays. And of course, being in the centre of Laganas holidays it’s very convenient if you fancy popping to the beach at any time of day. The beach is also part of Zante’s National Marine Park in the south, which is basically a protection scheme for the endangered loggerhead turtles which come to nest on these shores.

Smugglers’ Cove: As mentioned earlier, this fabulous beach is more of a tourist attraction than a pleasant sandy beach, but it’s definitely a must visit on holidays to Laganas. The beach became famous because of the smugglers’ boat which wrecked itself here after stormy weather and a chase with the Greek army. But it’s great that the beach is now on the map, as the white limestone cliffs and stunning turquoise waters make this one of the more beautiful beaches in the world.

Kalamaki Beach: Technically part of the same stretch of coastline of Laganas Beach, which both together add up to create Laganas Bay. As you might expect, Kalamaki Beach also has soft golden sand like Laganas Beach, except in Kalamaki you’re closer to the beautiful backdrop of huge limestone mountains topped with green shrubs and pines.

Restaurants in Laganas

Akropolis: Many of the restaurants in Laganas are focused on the young crowd having club 18-30 holidays here. That means lots of cheap British food, but in this case Akropolis bucks the trend. Only five minutes off the main strip, this cosy Greek restaurant offers lots of authentic food such as mousakka, tsatziki and stifado. It’s well worth trying here even if you’re on all inclusive holidays in Laganas.

Toad in the Hole: Here we have a restaurant on Laganas holidays which only offers finely cooked British food. So if you’re feeling a little hungover, there’s nothing better than a Full English Breakfast from here! They also offer plenty of other favourites too, like roast dinner complete with Yorkshire puddings and mouth-watering chicken ‘n’ chips.

Med Version: This modern restaurant on the beachfront of Laganas has a cool, contemporary style that is rather different to the many cafes which line the strip. The main draw here is that they serve classic Greek dishes but with a unique twist, all beautifully presented on the plate too.

Nightlife in Laganas

Clubbing holidays: Laganas has a top reputation for being one of the best resorts in Greece for clubbing holidays. And it’s not surprising considering there are hundreds of bars and clubs all packed along one strip. It seems everyone here is up for a great time, from the friendly bar staff and dancers, to the PR holiday workers tempting you with amazingly cheap drinks deals. Most clubs and bars have free entry too, so your budget can be kept pretty low if you’re on cheap holidays in Laganas. Lively bars and clubs to look out for include Bad Boys, Argo, Aussies, 4Play, Relax Bar, and Medousa to name just a few. All tend to offer raucous experiences with cheap drinks, loud music and a manic atmosphere!

Shopping in Laganas

Tourist focused shops: Most of the shops on Laganas holidays are very much focused on tourists, with many offering the typical tourist fare like novelty t-shirts, mugs, badges and key-rings. It’s all great if you like that sort of thing, and there’s plenty of opportunity to pick out souvenirs to give to family and friends when you’re back home from your holidays.

Big town shopping: Kalamaki and Zante Town offer for more choice if you fancy doing some serious shopping! In these towns you’ll come across all manner of shops selling local produced items such as olive oil, honey and leather.
