Kalamaki Overview
Peaceful holidays: Kalamaki offers quieter 2022 holidays close to the neighbouring resort of lively Laganas. It’s ideal for family holidays because the soft, gently shelving beach and calm waters make easy swimming for children, while the nightlife is not too rowdy to spoil family holidays too.
Beach holidays: The beach on Kalamaki holidays is a real delight. Several kilometres of golden sand, it forms part of Laganas Bay, a favoured nesting spot for endangered loggerhead turtles.
Activities in Kalamaki
Smugglers’ Cove: Actually a sandy beach, we’d class this beautiful bay as more of an attraction as it’s the site of one of the most photographed spots for all holidays in Greece. The main focal point is the wreck which has been docked since 1981, when smugglers trying to escape the authorities ran out of fuel along this cove. But Smugglers’ Cove is mainly a major attraction thanks to the beauty of the imposing chalky mountains, the pure white sands and intensely azure waters.
Kalamaki Crazy Golf: This fun golf circuit actually has two 18-hole courses, so you get a lot of value for your money. The holes are very inventive and well laid out too, with all kinds of interesting features including winding greens, large wells and even waterfalls and fountains. It makes for a relaxing yet playful experience for everyone on family holidays.
Blue Caves: You’ll need to travel to the northern part of the island to reach this major natural attraction on Zante holidays. It’s well worth the trip to see these stunning caves though. You’ll see elegant arches carved into the white limestone caves from years of erosion by the crashing waves. The biggest cave is known as the Kianoun Cave, although you’ll need to take a boat trip to see it. The name comes from the gorgeous blue colour of the water in the deepest hollows of the caves.
