All Inclusive Holidays

Cambrils, Costa Dorada

Cambrils all inclusive

Cambrils Overview

Peaceful coastal resort: The main attraction of Cambrils holidays is the opportunity for peace and quiet they offer. A well-facilitated resort with plenty of all inclusive hotels, restaurants and golden beaches, it’s still not as built-up or touristy as many others you may find on holidays on the Spanish coastline.

Rich history: For a small town, Cambrils holidays have a surprisingly large number of historical sites. There’s been a settlement here since before the Romans, and you’ll see evidence of all sorts of civilisations in the villas, watchtowers and castles waiting to be discovered.

Attractions in Cambrils

Torre del Port: This beautifully constructed watchtower has become a symbol of the city, largely because it’s situated right by the town’s golden coast. Made in the 17th century, this cobbled stone watchtower was originally used as a defence against pirate attacks but now houses exhibitions about local art and history which you’re free to visit on your holidays to Cambrils.

Castell de Villafortuny: This 12th century castle was used as the governing centre for Cambrils for over 700 years. Perched on a hill as a defensive strategy, the castle has a medieval style with grand rooks combining to make a flat-roofed square shaped building. There’s also a pleasant green courtyard inside with fir and pine trees providing cooling shade.

Roman Villa: Although this archaeological site has been reduced to rubble over the ravages of time, you can still see the outlines of the structures that stood here over 2,000 years ago. The excavations here also uncovered some important discoveries of Roman artefacts including ceramic pots and bronze statues. It’s certainly a worthwhile attraction to visit on your holidays to Cambrils if you’re into ancient history.

Activities in Cambrils

Pescador Park: This park is a fun place perfect for family holidays. Its full name is ‘El Parc del Pescador’, which translates as ‘the park of fishermen’, as this park is actually dedicated to the town’s vibrant fishing history. With a total of 5 square km of greenery, there’s space to include a concert stage, a bar and three children’s play areas.

Cambrils History Museum: This small museum is focused on all the local history of Cambrils, playing particularly close attention to the farming methods of the region. You can even see a fully functioning water mill in action!

Sama Park: These beautiful botanical gardens are actually located 4km away from Cambrils, but we thought we’d mention it anyway as it’s such an astounding attraction to see on holidays to the area. Some of the exotic plants here give you the feeling of being in a tropical rainforest, rather than in Cambrils on the coastline of Spain. There’s a grand house and large water lake which make the centrepieces of the gardens.

Beaches in Cambrils

L’Arcadia: There’s over 9km of golden coastline in Cambrils, so it’s ideally suited to beach holidays. L’Arcadia is the longest beach in the resort, with 1.6km of light, soft sand. It’s also one of the most popular for British tourists on their holidays as it’s well supported with showers, cafes and even playgrounds for children.

Playa de la Llosa: An open, wide beach that’s popular with windsurfing holidays for the stronger currents further out to sea. Many people on holidays to Cambrils are just as attracted to its golden sand though, and again this beach has good facilities including toilets, sun beds and even lifeguards.

Playa de Villafortuny: The second longest beach in Cambrils after L’Arcadia, there’s an incredibly wide expanse of sand here, perfect for stretching out while you sunbathe. It also features a good selection of watery activities, just like the other beaches. You could choose to cycle out to sea on a pedalo, or try to tame the wind in a sail boat!

Restaurants in Cambrils

Acuamar: Being right by the coast, unsurprisingly Cambrils holidays are excellent for seafood and Acuamar is one of the best examples of this. The fish stew and spicy paella are both fantastic here.

Bresca Restaurant: The menu at Bresca is fairly small but it has one huge selling point – almost all the ingredients are grown on site! Obviously this is a very unique feature and it means that the vegetables are incredibly fresh and flavoursome.

El Posito: This rustic, farmhouse-style restaurant has a homely decor of brown woods, cream walls and vintage pictures and memorabilia. Luckily the food is just as understated, with simple beautifully cooked dishes such as king prawns, fried potatoes (known as ‘patatas bravas’) or paella. Prices are great value, which is good to know if you’re looking for cheap holidays to Cambrils!

Nightlife in Cambrils

Quiet drinks: Cambrils holidays certainly don’t have lots of bars and clubs open until the early hours of the night. The attractions holidays to Cambrils offer are much more sedate than that! However, there are still a few good places to down some drinks, including Black, an atmospheric Jazz bar, Opera, a classically-themed sophisticated bar and Siddharta, a chill-out bar inspired by the beauty of the Far East.

Shopping in Cambrils

Mercat Vila: This modern shopping centre is just a little out from the centre of Cambrils, but there are buses running there every day until late. Inside you’ll find a good selection of Spanish labels and some independent boutique ones too.

Town centre shopping: Cambrils holidays offer many pleasant places to shop, largely because the old town is a maze of narrow streets and softly coloured grand buildings. As you stroll around you’ll see some fabulous clothes shops, as well as locally produced arts and crafts. And how could we forget the olive oil? DO Siurana is regarded as one of the best oils in the world, and it’s produced in the area of Cambrils. Enjoy it while you’re there and then stock up on some when you come back from your holidays and are at home in the UK!
