Cala’n Forcat Overview
Beach holidays: There’s a trio of coves within walking distance on Cala’n Forcat holidays. So if you like your coastlines quiet and compact, you’ll be in your element here. With thin strips of sand leading to deep rocky gorges of calm shallow waters, there’s plenty of choice for beach holidays here.
Stylish shopping: The best town in Menorca for a spot of retail therapy – Ciutadella is only a few miles away from Cala’n Forcat. This classy town used to be the capital, so it’s packed with designer boutiques and original, one-off shops.
Activities in Cala’n Forcat
Aqua Centre Water park: This slide and swim park has a small selection of rides that would mainly be of interest to younger children. But it’s still well worth a visit for a break from the beach on family holidays.
Beaches in Cala’n Forcat
Cala’n Forcat: A small sliver of sand and a deep rocky cove make this a very unusual beach. It’s very picturesque, especially if you get yourself up high among the overhanging rock faces. Being such a deep cove, the water is very shallow and calm for a long way out too, so it’s an ideal choice for beach holidays with children.
Cala’n Turqueta: Soft white sand leads onto a huge expanse of crystal clear, very shallow water. A peculiarity of this beach is that you can actually walk out into the water and reach a tiny rocky islet with overgrown shrubs and pine trees!
Cala Pregonda: If you prefer to spread out while sunbathing during your holidays, head to Cala Pregonda. Most of the beaches on Cala’n Forcat holidays are small strips of sand with surrounding coves, but Pregonda is the exception to the rule. Instead you get a wide stretch of soft golden sand with plenty of room, leading onto shallow clear water.
Restaurants in Cala’n Forcat
Las Brasas: A truly authentic Menorca restaurant that it’s well worth experiencing on your holidays in Cala’n Forcat. All meals are cooked in the old way – using a clay oven for a delicious home-baked flavour. The pork and lamb dishes taste fantastic here.
Ses Voltes: Situated on the old streets of the charming town of Ciutadella, this restaurant is worth travelling the three miles or so from Cala’n Forcat. What you’ll find when you reach there is a large selection of tasty tapas dishes and some freshly made pizzas to mix things up a bit too.
Haiti: Again, this restaurant is in Ciutadella, but it’s the best town in Menorca to travel to for a big selection of places to eat. This friendly, family-run restaurant has a diverse menu that caters to British and Spanish tastes, as well as meat-eaters and veggies alike.
Nightlife in Cala’n Forcat
Variety of bars: Menorca is well-known for offering the quietest holidays in the Balearics. But you’ll find more bars in Cala’n Forcat than pretty much anywhere else on the island. Lively bars like Porky’s, Tropical Kiss and Jimmy Hills are in full swing until late in the night. You’ll also come across a good few bars in the old town of Ciutadella, especially vintage-themed jazz bars - smooth sounds to go with your drinks!
Shopping in Cala’n Forcat
Ciutadella delights: There are some holiday souvenir and beachwear shops within the resort of Cala’n Forcat itself, but they’re not really anything special. For a unique shopping experience you’d be better off taking a trip to Ciutadella. Ses Voltes (The Arches) is an interesting leather shop with a rich history – it’s been here since 1899. A little further along the road you’ll also see some swanky designer shops and original boutiques.
