Beaches in Cala D’Or
Beach holidays are the real focus for Cala D’Or holidays and it’s easy to see why. The Spanish word ‘cala’ translates as ‘bay’, and in Cala D’Or holidays you’ll find five of them, all placed fairly close together. All of them are fairly small, but you’ll appreciate the stunning scenery each one has.
Cala D’Or: Pine trees are densely packed around the entrance to this sandy cove, giving a sweet fresh smell when you sunbathe during your holidays in Cala D’Or.
Cala Gran: Slightly larger than the other four beaches all within reach of Cala D’Or holidays, the soft fine sand leads into shallow clear water surrounded by rocks on all sides.
Cala Esmeralda: Not as enclosed as Cala Gran, the rocks on this cove branch out slightly wider to give more swimming space if you get tired of the sand on beach holidays here.
Cala Serena: One of the smallest of the five beaches in Cala D’Or, the trees hang over the rocks on either side making this a beautiful and utterly peaceful beach.
Cala Ferrera: White houses and hotels overlook this cosy little beach, which has a surprising amount of space to pack in lots of sunbathers enjoying their summer holidays in Cala D’Or.
Restaurants in Cala D’Or
Indiana Johns: Indian restaurants in Cala D’Or holidays are considered to be some of the best available on Majorca holidays, with Indiana Johns coming top of the bill. Their sizzling chicken curries are very highly rated.
Rincon de Pepe: Those after something more traditional whilst on their holidays in Cala D’Or would be well advised to try out Rincon de Pepe. With a local chef born in Majorca, the restaurant serves classic Spanish dishes mixed with some English options on the menu too.
Acuarius: A lovely restaurant with inventive dishes and a stunning view to match. Overlooking the Cala D’Or marina, you can gaze into the deep blue Mediterranean Sea while enjoying delights like Sea Bass baked in salt or mixed fish kebabs. The large portions add up to great value, making cheap holidays to Cala D’Or entirely possible.
Nightlife in Cala D’Or
Cala D’Or central square: For a great selection of bars with a lively atmosphere on your holidays to Cala D’Or, Central Square is the place to be. The music in the area is extremely eclectic, with the main club, Sound Republic, largely sticking to pop R‘n’B . The Terrace Bar has a large outdoor section, while Heroes Bar is known for having a friendly atmosphere.
Shopping in Cala D’Or
Cala D’Or Marina and Town Centre: Along with the sophisticated Marina, Cala D’Or holidays have a number of stylish boutiques and upmarket shops. Many of these shops feature clothes by local designers, so you could take a one-off piece back home with you after your holidays in Cala D’Or.
Being a popular tourist destination like much of Majorca, you can also expect the usual souvenir shops, and some good bargains in the many crafts and leather outlets.
