Attractions in Benidorm

Museum of agriculture: This museum is filled with farming tools from Spain’s agricultural past. It’s fascinating to see how many different implements were needed, especially when simple things like ploughing and seeding were all done by horsepower!

Sea Cultural Centre: Looking at the action-packed nature of Benidorm holidays now, it’s hard to believe that the town was once a sleepy fishing village. This small museum celebrates the city’s nautical past with displays of items that were used for sailing back in their heyday.

Activities in Benidorm

Mundomar: This large zoo & marine show has a fun pirate/shipwreck theme across its park. There are dolphin and sea lion performances every day, and lots of land animals to see too such as lemurs and prairie dogs.

Noah’s Ark: In a departure from the norm, this is not like your average entertainment zoo on beach holidays. The animals here have all been rescued from cruelty and maltreatment from their owners. Although entry is free, donations are encouraged to help continue the wonderful work of this sanctuary.

Aqualandia: This huge water park is one of the biggest in Spain, and has a great variety of slides great for fun family holidays. The Big-Bang, Kamikaze and Black Hole are all high-octane rides for the daredevils, while for more sedate swimming adventures you could opt for the relaxing Jacuzzi or the open watery expanse of the Lagoon.

Terra Mitica: Just 4km from Benidorm, this excellent theme park has been based on the ancient civilisations of Greece, Egypt, Rome and Spain. Some of the rides are extremely exciting, such as the sheer drops of the 60kmph Inferno, the entertaining Pyramid of Fury and the watery ride of Triton’s Fury.

Beaches in Benidorm

Levante: This golden 2km-long beach is a real attraction of Benidorm holidays, and features in many of the postcards you can pick up at the souvenir shops. The wide golden sandy expanse enjoys lots of sun all year round, with the water staying nice and warm for most of the season. It’s well facilitated too, with over 2,000 sun beds and a clean, modern Italian marble promenade.

Poniente: Slightly longer than Levante, and as a result more spacious too. This beach has a calmer atmosphere which attracts those on family holidays and Spanish locals. Park Elche is just nearby, so you can take a pleasant walk through there then finally find yourself at this golden sandy strip.

Mal Pas Playa: This quiet cove is near the calmer Old Town in Benidorm. It’s much smaller than the other beaches, but it’s an idyllic place for relaxing holidays, especially as this area enjoys a lot of sunshine.

Restaurants in Benidorm

Esteban’s Restaurant: Don’t let the rather plain decor of this restaurant put you off, the food here is fantastic. Dishes are of the classic variety, with juicy T-Bone Steak, fresh Sea Bass and Spanish Cheesecake being some of the delights on the menu.

The Vagabond: This innovative restaurant has a range of international influences, including ideas from French, Spanish and American cuisine. There’s a great value set menu which ensures cheap holidays to Benidorm stay cheap. Plus you can take your pick from traditional dishes such as Lasagne or Pizza, or more adventurous, unusual dishes such as Chicken in Peach Sauce, Pork in Strawberry Sauce and Quail in Gravy.

Michael’s: This simple, homely restaurant has a good selection of meals with very low prices perfect for cheap holidays to Benidorm. The menu has an intriguing mix of Spanish, Arabian and British dishes – everything from Meat Pie to Chicken Kiev or Spanish Tortilla.

Nightlife in Benidorm

Stylish clubbing: What with holidays to Ibiza and holidays to Ayia Napa taking all the limelight, Benidorm holidays are often overlooked as a major clubbing resort. Make no mistake though, there are some brilliant clubbing holidays to be had here. Club Ku for example, is a modern air-conditioned place to party, and plays host to big name DJs like Judge Jules and Roger Sanchez over the summer. Plus you’ve got KM Disco, which has three fabulous dance floors, or Club Mannsion which mainly plays extremely loud hardcore house. So you can see, you’ve plenty of options on how to party on holidays to Benidorm!

Lively Bars: Whilst many bars in Benidorm are sedate sports cafes by day, at night they become action-packed bars where anything goes! All along the main bar street there are buzzing, brightly-lit watering holes, such as Champions (with X Factor competitions), KM Playa and Bahamas.

Relaxing drinks: Not all of the bars in Benidorm are absolutely manic. It’s still quite possible to find friendly bars which welcome the whole family, such as Loch Ness Fun Pub and White Horse Family Pub. In the Old Town too, you’ll discover a much more relaxed atmosphere on Benidorm holidays where you can listen to the soothing sounds of Spanish music with a chilled cocktail in hand.

Shopping in Benidorm

Shopping streets: Unlike the typically huge shopping centres of the Canary Islands, Costa Blanca instead has several specially-dedicated shopping streets. The main ones on Benidorm holidays focus on a particular patch, namely the Calle del Dr. Perez Llorca, Calle Gambo and Avenida del Martinez Alejos. On these streets you’ll find many fashionable stores, including Mango, Zara and La Coste.

Benidorm Market: There’s a nice selection of bric-a-brac, souvenir stalls and handmade items at this outdoor market held every Sunday. Especially good value are the leather items (belts, bags, shoes etc.) and the Spanish tablecloths.
