Antalya all inclusive holidays

Antalya Overview

Historic sites: Antalya holidays offer some awe-inspiring history, with significant artefacts housed in the Antalya archaeological museum. The ancient ruins of Perge are also pretty near. Within the Roman walls of the old city Kaleici, you’ll discover the 2nd century Hadrian’s Wall too.

Double the beaches: There are two great beaches in Antalya – Konyaalti and Kapuzkaldrian. Both are sand and shingle beaches with fabulous vistas of the open Mediterranean Sea.

Bright nightlife: Kemer, the main bar street is packed with busy bars and clubs for lively holidays. A good number of the clubs have open-air terraces which mean they have huge capacities – 2000 people or more!

Attractions in Antalya

Antalya Archaeological Museum: One of Turkey’s largest museums, if you have any interest in ancient history, this should definitely be on your holiday ‘to-do-list’. Inside you can view exhibits dating right back to pre-historic times, up to the Hellenisitic, Roman and Ottoman periods.

Perge: This site of ancient ruins is only 18km away from Antalya, so you could easily pop there by bus from the city centre. Founded in 1000 BC, Perge is often said to be one of the first cities to have produced beer – quite a claim to fame! There you’ll see Roman columns and the remains of extremely old buildings, plus a running stadium and gladiator theatre.

Roman City Walls: These ancient walls encircle the historic centre of Antalya (originally called Kaleici). Around the edge you’ll come across Hadrian’s Gate, a remarkably well preserved triumphal arch built in the 2nd century. The main reason why it’s an absolutely pristine example of Roman architecture is because it was actually hidden under the walls themselves for many years!

Activities in Antalya

Duden Waterfalls: Just a short walk from the town centre of Antalya will take you to a watery oasis that seems like its own little slice of paradise. For just a few pounds you can walk along a beautiful natural trail with shady overhanging trees. Along the way you’ll arrive at three different waterfalls – one of which flows on three tiers, and another which drips over a cave so you can enjoy the cooling spray of water on a hot day. Truly a memorable activity on holidays to Antalya.

Beaches in Antalya

Konyaalti Beach: This 7km sand and shingle beach is probably the better of your two choices on Antalya holidays. You’ll enjoy the usual warm clear water of the Mediterranean too. Perhaps the most unique thing about this beach is the backdrop of the rocky Baba Mountains. Some are so high they’re capped with white snow, which is rather an odd sight when you’re sunbathing on a hot Turkish holiday!

Kapuzkaldrian Beach: Not as well known as Konyaalti, this small beach is on a rocky outcrop 10km east from Antalya. Although if you’re travelling that far out, you may as well just visit Lara Beach, which has a lovely stretch of golden sand and is nearby to many luxury hotels.

Restaurants in Antalya

Vanilla Lounge: With sleek glossy tables and cream-coloured walls, this sophisticated Italian restaurant offers a fine dining experience. They feature an amazingly large variety of coffees – perfect for washing down your dinner. But it’s the dessert where the restaurant really comes into its own. White chocolate profiteroles and rich, dark gateaux are just a small sample of the sweet treats you can try. A fantastic restaurant that’s a real treat on holidays to the area.

Hasanga: This lively Turkish restaurant serves up authentic dishes like clay pot lamb casserole and a selection of mezes for starters. The owners aim to please holidaymakers so you might also catch some entertainment there too, with many nights hosting live singing and dancing.

Parlak Restoran: Quite a hidden gem this one, so we’re letting you in on a secret here! Incredibly popular with the locals, you won’t find too many tourists at this traditional Turkish restaurant. What you will find though, is classic food that’ll give you the true taste of Turkey.

Nightlife in Antalya

Cool nightspots: Antalya is a busy, bustling resort so it suits that the nightlife on holidays here is just as lively. Ally’s is inside the original old town of Kaleici and is a great place for dancing your socks off. Club Arma is also very popular, and doubles up as a restaurant so you can fill your belly before you party! While Tequila Bar offers exactly what the name says – tequila, happy times and more.

Shopping in Antalya

Migros Shopping Centre: This modern arcade has over 100 shops spread across three floors. Inside the air-conditioned interior you’ll find everything from big-name brands to quaint little one-off boutiques. There’s even a huge multi-screen cinema if you fancy watching the latest films whilst on holidays here.

Kaleici Old Town: Within the city walls, there are many antique shops that sell unusual ornaments, fitting with the historic character of the town itself. Turkey also specialises in making quality carpets and leather, plus great value jewellery, so you can expect to find all these items in Kaleici too.
