Los Gigantes
In the whole of Tenerife, it is doubtful that anywhere can compare to the sight of the awe-inspiring cliffs of Los Gigantes which rise up at just over 800metres. Or, to give them their proper name, “Acantilados De Los Gigantes” - The Cliffs of the Giants. Theses cliffs put you in mind of Jason and the Argonauts and Titans and it is a foregone conclusion that when you gaze upon Los Gigantes, you will come away with goose bumps.
The town of Los Gigantes is one of the prettiest that Tenerife has to offer. It is a small, tranquil town where life moves at a slower pace. The focal point of the town is the marina which has space for hundreds of moorings and is often full of sleekly exotic yachts. Form the marina, you can take a boat ride out to the foot of the Los Gigantes cliffs where you can truly appreciate the immensity and beauty of these monoliths and understand why the ancestors of Tenerife believed the Los Gigantes cliffs to be the end of the world.
Although Los Gigantes is quieter than the rest of Tenerife’s busy resorts, a holiday there does not mean that there will be nothing to do. Seeing the sights is unavoidable given the sheer size of most of them but other activities such as water sports, shopping, walking and water parks are all available within a reasonable proximity and the Los Gigantes centre has a fair few bars and restaurants where there is always fun and fine food to be had.
Los Gigantes has a fine selection of hotels and if you like a place with a view, then a holiday in Los Gigantes is a must. Every hotel has a spectacular view to rival any in Tenerife and because of the relative quietness of the town, the atmosphere of most of the hotels are peaceful and relaxed. It must be said though, Los Gigantes is a very hilly place and so no matter where your hotel, walking will be involved!
What is a holiday without a beach? A holiday obviously not in Tenerife! Los Gigantes has a beautiful black sand beach at the foot of the Los Gigantes cliffs so you can sunbathe with a spectacular view! Nearby is also the Playa La Arena beach, again with that beautiful black sand, and this beach has been a consistent winner of awards for cleanliness! Whether beaches are your passion or not, we are sure that once you come, you will be passionate about Los Gigantes!
