Dougga: These Roman ruins were declared a UNESCO heritage site in 1997. Theyíre around 40km west of Port el Kantaoui, heading inland towards the dramatic golden plains of the Sahara desert. Originally a fortified village, it was occupied by Romans from the 2nd century BC. Temples, huge columns and walls still remain, and many of them are remarkably well preserved. Aqua Palace: The first water park created for holidays in Tunisia, Aqua Palace has a variety of twisting, turning slides all set within clean, spacious grounds. Golf El Kantaoui Club: There are actually two 18-hole courses at this PGA approved golf club. Port el Kantaoui beach: Port el Kantaoui holidays are based along the gorgeous light golden coastline of the Gulf of Hammamet. La Mediterranee: Generally, the best restaurants on Port el Kantaoui holidays are based around the harbour. And itís around the port area that youíll find the excellent La Mediterranee. The menu is suitably Mediterranean, encompassing classic dishes from Tunisia alongside those thatíll remind you of holidays in Spain, Italy and Portugal. Look out for the Brik (a Tunisian dish made with batter and eggs), and stuffed leg of lamb.
Les Emirs: This restaurant based around the port is famed for its fantastically fresh seafood. You can actually see the dayís catch in a large ice boat at the front of the restaurant. Meals here include fried swordfish, delicately flavoured lobster, and salt-baked sea bass. But itís not all about the fish though! There are some tasty meat dishes here like beef stroganoff and slow cooked lamb casserole. Itís the ideal place if you like to try locally caught fish during your holidays in Port el Kantaoui.
La Daurade: Another great restaurant along the port, La Daurade is in a great location, with a terrace for enjoying the views of the harbour and the shimmering Mediterranean Ė a wonderful eating experience during holidays to Port el Kantaoui. Inside the decor continues the maritime theme, with wooden paraphernalia made to look like a shipís hull.
Nightlife in Port el Kantaoui
Classy drinks: Much of the nightlife in Port el Kantaoui holidays is focused around the marina area, with its bar terraces that allow you to look out at the glossy boats anchored in the sea. Look out for the Irish theme pub called Puka, itís considered to have the best atmosphere in Port el Kantaoui. Thereís a smattering of clubs in Port el Kantaoui too, such as Iguana, Living and the Salon. Nights are never too rowdy during holidays to Tunisia though, and you can expect things to quieten down by 2am at the latest. And prices for drinks are surprisingly cheap making this tourist centred resort great for cheap holidays to Tunisia.
Hotel entertainment: Unless youíre travelling to the lively centre of the marina, the nightlife on Port el Kantaoui holidays can be quiet understated. However, that shouldnít be a problem as many of the all inclusive hotels offer their own private entertainment at night, complete with glamorous bars, inventive cocktails and fun singing and dancing shows.

Marina shopping: As well as being the best place for nightlife on holidays to Port el Kantaoui, the marina is where all the shopping action is at too. Youíll come across stylish fashion boutiques as well as original handicraft stalls selling unique ornaments. Tunisia is at the crossroads of culture between the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East, so youíll see a huge range of crafts including everything from tailored rugs to ornate bird cages, leather belts to glittering jewellery.
