Playa Americas Holidays

Playa Americas Overview

Beach holidays: Playa Americas holidays 2013 are great if you love a large beach! The coastline here has a huge expanse of golden sand, specially imported from Africa to replace the island’s indigenous volcanic black variety.

Great facilities: Being a built-up tourist resort since the 1960’s, holidays to Playa Americas have all the modern conveniences you would expect. There’s a good range of shopping centres, supermarkets and restaurants so you’ll never be short of things to buy and eat during your Playa Americas holidays.

Lively holidays: Playa Americas holidays are renowned as being some of the first to gain the ‘party mad’ tag. The two main centres are Starco’s and Veronicas – Starco’s has a bigger selection of bars whereas Veronicas has more clubs so gets busier later in the night. For a quieter time on your Playa Americas holidays, the Patch has a good selection of slightly less manic karaoke and sports bars.

Activities in Playa Americas

Siam Park: A fantastically well-equipped water park ideal for families on Playa Americas holidays. You’ll see huge character designs, super-fast slides and lots more. One of the biggest of its kind in Europe, attractions include Siam Beach, The Dragon, and the Mekong Rapids. There’s an oriental theme throughout the whole park, which you can see in the intricate patterns and bright colours everywhere. The water’s heated at a nice and toasty 24° so you won’t feel freezing cold when you jump in!

Whale watching: There are many boat trips sailing out from around Playa Americas to whisk you out into the open sea. When you’re there, you’ve got a great chance of spotting bottlenose dolphins and pilot whales. It’s an incredible experience on your holidays to see animals so large gliding effortlessly in the crystal clear water.

Golf Las Americas: A beautiful golf course with stunning views of the nearby mountain ranges. Large water features and bunkers make this a challenging round of golf, but very enjoyable in the bright sunshine typical of Playa Americas holidays!

Playa Americas Beaches

Playa Americas: This wide stretch of sand is big enough to accommodate the huge swathe of holidaymakers who go on Playa Americas holidays every year. It’s also well-stocked with bars and restaurants all the way along the beach front. Water sports enthusiasts can get their kicks from the windsurfing and jet skis available.

Puerto Colon: This pretty little marina has a pleasant beach that’s a little quieter than Playa Americas. The beach has soft golden sand (imported as is typical for Tenerife) and a clean promenade follows the coastline for a nice walk.

Playa de Fanabe: Unlike many of the other beaches in Tenerife, Playa de Fanabe has kept its black sand, belying the island’s volcanic history. Aside from that the nearby parkland and greenery make this an attractive place on Playa Americas holidays.

Restaurants in Playa Americas

Pasta Y Vino: Unsurprisingly, this is an Italian restaurant specialising in pizza, pasta and wine. It’s also one of the best restaurants on Tenerife holidays, and has a good selection of other classic dishes from Italy, such as Bruschetta and Chicken with Gorgonzola.

Monkey Bar & Grill: This restaurant encompasses lots of different influences, including Canarian, British and American. On the menu you’ll find Cheese Quarter Pounders alongside black Canary Potatoes and Pizza. Interestingly, they occasionally invite guest chefs from other restaurants to cook some original dishes for them.

Da Angelo: This Italian restaurant offers exceptionally good value for money – especially the low-price set menu. Cheap holidays to Playa Americas will stay cheap if you choose to eat here! Garlic prawns, Salmon Fetuccini and Tiramisu are just some of the authentic dishes you can expect.

Nightlife in Playa Americas

A trio of great places to party: Being established for lively holidays since the sixties, Playa Americas holidays have three large areas dedicated to bars and clubs. Starco’s has the greatest number of bars, including the loud Judge Jules Bar, the Irish-themed Fitzpatrick’s and the sports-focused Linekers.

The Venoricas area has more clubs so gets livelier later. The best clubs in the resort are Rags, Player’s Lounge and the fabulously stylish Liquid. Or if it’s entertainment you’re after, head to the Patch. Here you’ll find many bars with live singing and dancing plus comedy drag acts.

Shopping in Playa de las Americas

Shopping centres: Much like holidays to Costa Adeje, Playa Americas holidays have a good number of shopping centres. Inside you’ll find plenty of places to grab a bargain for bringing back home after your all inclusive holidays here. The best in the area is the Safari Shopping Centre, which has high-end boutiques such as Armani and Hugo Boss as well as famous brands like Timberland, Levi and Zara.
