Cheap Holidays -> Resort Guides -> Balearic Islands -> Menorca
Pronounced either Menorca or Minorca, Minorca is the second largest of the Balearic Islands. Holidays to Minorca are often cheap and often family-oriented. Minorca is an un-spoilt island with none of the high-rise, overflowing resorts you would find on Majorca or Ibiza. So if you want a holiday that's full of cheap fun in the sun, beautiful beaches and fantastic scenery, then Minorca is the place for you!
The south of Menorca has more holiday resorts and is the more popular side of the island, with the north having a rockier coastline. Surprisingly, Menorca has more beaches than both Majorca and Ibiza together, so if you love beach holidays, you're in for a treat! The beach of Son Bou is a favourite because of its long golden shoreline and clear blue waters. As far as beaches go, Menorca definitely has some of the best that Spain has to offer - the beaches are clean, quiet and absolutely gorgeous with a host of water sports available!
The island of Menorca is a biosphere reserve and makes the perfect holiday for nature lovers! Sand dunes, cliffs, caves, lagoons, miles of countryside - cheap sightseeing and some of the finest scenery in Europe, what more could you ask for? Mount Toro merits a visit if you travel to Menorca. As the highest point on the island, you get some fantastic views and you also get to see the Church and statue of Jesus perched atop the Mount!
Menorca is known as the 'open-air' museum due to the wealth of historic objects and architecture that litter the island. Again, sight-seeing some of these places is a cheap way to have fun on your holiday and it can be educational too! The Naveta Dels Tudons is worth a visit as is the Golden Farm manor house where Nelson stayed. The sights of Menorca will keep you astounded!
Menorca has some of the best restaurants around. Along the coast you'll find some of the best fish restaurants - even the King of Spain pops over now and again to partake of the fresh lobster - although we'd advise something a little cheaper! Hotels on Menorca range from luxury hotels to cheap budget hotels - but most are family orientated and fun to stay in!
Menorca is not a place of non-stop nightlife. Lively bars and the odd disco are as far as it goes here, but regardless of the lack of clubs, if you holiday in Menorca, we guarantee you'll want to come back!
