Matagorda Holidays

Matagorda Overview

Beach holidays: Matagorda beach holidays are some of the best in Lanzarote, especially as the beach here is much quieter than the larger one further west on Puerto del Carmen holidays. The promenade was also recently restored, making for an attractive walk lined with palm trees and bars.

Close to everything: Holidays to Matagorda 2012 are ideally placed for pretty much everything. It’s much less busy than Puerto del Carmen holidays, yet it’s close enough to travel there in no time at all. Plus, it’s just ten minutes from the airport so transfer times are kept to a minimum.

Matagorda Beaches

Matagorda beach: This Blue Flag-awarded beach is the real treasure of Matagorda holidays. At just under 1km long, it’s a wide golden sandy stretch leading onto clear blue waters. There’s a refreshing breeze along the coast which whips up into a wind out to sea, creating the ideal conditions for windsurfing holidays. The promenade has undergone a complete refurbishment, with clean pavements decorated with palm trees and black volcanic stones.

Matagorda Restaurants

Sapporo: Here’s a refreshing change – an authentic Japanese restaurant in Lanzarote! The beautiful balance of fresh ingredients here make for some delicious dishes, including sushi (vegetables or thin slices of raw fish with vinegar rice) and the sweet, sticky flavours of Chicken Teppanyaki.

The Stage Door: Blink and you might miss it, but please don’t! This small (but cosy) restaurant in Matagorda serves a great selection of modern, classy cuisine. We’re talking dishes like Beef Wellington cooked with soft tender steak and crispy, buttery pasty, or succulent Pork Medallions with a rich, decadent blue cheese sauce.

Sirocco: A quality beachfront restaurant which offers lots of different types of cuisine. There’s also a good selection of wine to accompany your meal of dishes such as steamed Sea Bass or Fillet Steak. Children on fun family holidays will be happy here as they serve home comforts too like burger or chicken nuggets with chips.

Nightlife in Matagorda

Quiet drinks: Being a small resort, there aren’t many bars and restaurants on Matagorda holidays, so you could choose to spend your holidays drinking in your hotel bar instead. However, you still might like to pass the time in the British sports bars here, like The New Inn and The Sportsman Bar. If you prefer livelier holidays, Puerto del Carmen is just a short taxi drive away.

Shopping in Matagorda

Matagorda Commercial Centre: There’s only one small commercial centre on Matagorda holidays, where you’ll find most of the bars, restaurants and shops in the area. The shops here generally stock food and essentials, so nothing too fancy here. If you’re after some clothes shopping on your holidays, head to Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife, or Pocillos.
