The biggest of all Spain’s islands, Majorca is part of the Balearics and resides in the warm Mediterranean Sea. Majorca or ’Mallorca’ as it is sometimes referred to, is a massively popular holiday destination with flocks of tourists going year in and year out. Majorca has something for everyone – the younger crowd love Magaluf for its beaches and nightlife, families enjoy the fun atmosphere of Alcudia and for those who enjoy peace and quiet, the picturesque Purto Cristo provides. Whatever you like, Majorca has it!
Mallorca has lots of activities to keep even the hardest-to-please person occupied! The capital of Majorca, Palma has masses of things to do! There are lots of good tapas restaurants to try out before you take in a spot of sight seeing! The train that runs around Palma is great to take in the sights – you’ll adore the 14th Century gothic cathedral and the picturesque harbour!
Further afield, Es Pla of Mallorca is perfect for a day out. Tourists can wander around the almond groves or through the picturesque market towns with their statuesque windmills dotted around. If windmills don’t tickle your fancy then Majorca has an abundance of caves, few of which are open to the public. The best to visit are the Caves of Drach. The show is magnificent! Everyone sits around the underground lake which is pitch black, music sweeps hauntingly through the cavern and then a boat slowly crosses the lake, lit up like a Christmas tree…if you visit anywhere in Majorca, visit these caves!
Mallorca has many, many markets! For anything you want to buy be it food, clothes or souvenirs, you’ll find a market! Some of the best to go to are Ca’n Picafort, Alcudia and Palma markets. The markets are huge and you can have so much fun walking around in the sunshine, haggling down the prices from the cheeky stallholders!
If you like your holidays to involve lots of splashing about, then Majorca is the place to be! Almost every town has its own massive water park and kids of all ages (especially the adult ones!) have a wild time! Try the black hole or the kamikaze if you’re brave enough – just remember to keep hold of your swimsuit! Mallorca’s Marineland is also worth a visit for anyone who enjoys marine life – and the dolphin show will leave you cheering in your seat as the playful mammals frolic around! As well as water parks, Majorca offers crazy golf, horse rides, museums, architecture, nature reserves, mountain treks….well, pretty much anything you can think of!
Majorca is an island that is famed for its beaches, with around eighty or so lying around the island. From long stretches of snow-like sand to pebbly beaches sprouting with palms, you’re sure to find a beach to suit you in Mallorca. The sea is warm and perfect for cooling off and the sun shines nearly all the time – if you love beach holidays, Majorca is the place to go!
Majorca has lots of hotels – well, it would need to the amount of tourists who frequent the place! The hotels of Mallorca have excellent facilities generally – especially if you’ve got children! The Spanish love children so hotels in Majorca are children-friendly, as are the staff! Most of the hotels you’ll holiday in will have access to beaches and a hotel entertainment programme so you’ll never get bored of staying in!
Majorca is an island that is full of natural beauty as well as a million and one things to do. If you holiday in Majorca, be prepared for the time of your life!
