Just off the west coast of Greece and in the middle of the Ionian chain of islands, is the peaceful island Lefkas. Close enough to the mainland of Greece to be connected by a bridged causeway, Lefkas is an island that has been overlooked when it comes to over-blown holiday tourism. Imagine a morning stroll on a deserted beach as the fishermen bring in their catch of the day – Picture a traditional holiday to Greece; picture Lefkas!
Named for its abundant white cliffs, Lefkas is an island of unparalleled natural beauty which is why you don’t want to kiss out on Sunmaster holidays there! The pine covered mountains and flower-covered hills put you in mind of spring and pleasant strolls in the sunlight. The Vafkeri waterfall shouldn’t be missed on your holiday to Lefkas and the many tiny fishing villages are perfect for sightseeing. The busier resorts such as Nidri and Lefkas Town offer more tourist-centred attractions, but in comparison to busier islands, the pace is slow and relaxed!
Lefkas has some lovely beaches – in fact, Sunmaster believe that if you’re after a beach holiday, you can’t go wrong with Lefkas! Sweeping stretches of sand alternate with rugged, deserted coves and most of the beaches are relatively empty, so if you fancy a bit of seclusion while you sunbathe, choose one of Greece’s finest! The waters around Lefkas and Greece are a luminescent blue and perfect for the range of watersports on offer such as snorkelling and boating – Sunmaster know you won’t be bored on these beaches!
Holidays to Lefkas can include bike-riding through some of the best scenery in Greece and if you’re lucky, you can catch the Ionian Regatta in Nidri – the famous yacht race! Nidri is a lovely place to visit while you’re in Lefkas. Nidri is the most popular holiday resort on Lefkas – it has its own port, a good selection of bars and tavernas and Nidri is the perfect place to sail! The east of Lefkas is the main place to go for more popular holiday resorts, but if you’re after something a little more off the beaten track then head to the weat where if you’re brave enough, you can give windsurfing a go! Trips to Greece are easily accomplished, but Sunmaster don’t think you’ll want to leave Lefkas once you get there! The friendly people, relaxed nightlife, fantastic food and gorgeous scenery ensure you’ll have a holiday to remember!
