On the south coast of Fuerteventura is Costa Calma. Costa Calma translates into calm coast and the resort is certainly this – both in atmosphere and in the way that the sea remains calm. Costa Calma is first and foremost a beach resort – the resort was purpose-built alongside a mile long stretch of glowing white sands and forms the Playa Barca beach. With beaches the likes of this, there’s no need for anything else! As with any coastal resort, water sports are available in Costa Calma and the area is popular for windsurfing. Regardless of when you go, you’re guaranteed to get a spot on this huge, tropical beach!
Costa Calma is a relatively small resort with some modern hotels that offer fantastic services and are within walking distance of the vast beach. Restaurants and bars in Costa Calma are above par and the resort also has shopping centres and it’s easy to take trips to surrounding Fuerteventura from here! However, once you get to Costa Calma, you’ll see the beach and forget everything else as you lay your towel on the softly shifting white sands, gaze upon a sea of blue, unable to tell where the sky meets the sea and lay back in the sun!
