Situated on the northern side of Crete is the popular Rethymnon. Rethymnon is one of the best holiday resorts in Crete to visit of you love good beaches, lots of history and lots to do!
Rhetymnon has one of the longest beaches in Crete and so it makes a fantastic place for a beach holiday! The crumbly golden sands have masses of space and the sea is crystal clear – with another long beach in the resort and plenty of watersports too, you'll be spoilt for choice! Alternately, Rethymnon harbour makes a nice place to spend some of your holiday!
Rethymnon town is full of 16th century architecture and narrow winding streets. The Fortezza Castle is one of the best historical sites in Crete to visit on your holiday! Rethymnon is also home to museums and gardens so if you tire of the beach, soak up a bit of culture on your holiday!
Rethymnon has some lovely tavernas where you can make the most of the beautiful fresh fish and the lovingly prepared Greek dishes. The quiet beach bars make a good evening destination but if you fancy something a bit livelier, the bars and pubs around the harbour offer a great evening out!
