Kalives
Set on the north-west coast of Crete is the real Cretian village of Kalives. Back dropped by the majestic White Mountains and surrounded by some of Greece and Crete's lushest countryside, Kalives is a laid-back place where you can have a relaxing holiday!
Kalives has two main beaches, the bigger of which has shallow waters that are great if you have kids who like to paddle in the surf! The beaches are backed by trees so you have somewhere to go for shade and tavernas line the edges so you don't have far to travel for refreshments!
As evening falls in Kalives, the harbour is a nice place to go strolling, lit by softly-lighted lamps. During the day, discover the beauty of Crete by hiking through the hills and valleys or along the river Xydas. Kalives has some fantastic tavernas where you can get a real taste of Greece from the traditional food and a taste of Greek hospitality. Kalives also has a few bars where you can have a nice relaxed drink during the evening hours!
One of the nicest places to stay in Kalives and in Crete too, is the Kalives Beach Hotel. The Kalives Beach Hotel, as you can probably tell by the name, is set next to a beach, and also a river so you get the best of both worlds and some brilliant views! The Kalives Beach Hotel is a picturesque one, with a fake windmill and tethered boats near the bridge over the river. The Kalives Beach Hotel also has sports facilities, a children's playground and pools - once you experience Kalives, you won't want to travel anywhere else again!
