Corfu Town
Situated on the eastern coast, Corfu Town is one of the most popular places in Greece to visit. Made up of Corfu Old Town and Corfu New Town, Corfu Town has some of the nicest architecture in all of Greece and is a resort that's made up of an eclectic mix of cultures.
In Corfu Old Town, the Liston Promenade is one of the favourite places to pass the time of day. Shaded by tall, dense trees and lined with cafes, you can simply sit and enjoy the ambience of Corfu Old Town. The Liston leads to Esplanadae Square, not only the largest square in Greece, but one of the largest squares in Europe. Filled with unusual shops, restaurants, cafes and with a beach nearby, Esplanadae Square is a great place to watch the world go by.
Corfu Town is home to some of the best museums in all of Greece, so it's worth taking a day or two to have a wander around them. Trendy boutiques and eateries can be found in Corfu New Town and the 16th Century Fortress should be high on your list of places to go. The gorgeous St Spiridon's Church is one of the prettiest in Greece and also contains the mummified remains of Corfu's patron Saint – not for the squeamish!
One of the nicest hotels to stay in in Corfu Town is the Corfu Palace Hotel The Corfu Palace Hotel has its own private beach, sports facilities, gardens and it's close by to the classy yacht and golf club – definitely a hotel worth considering! Corfu Town has lots of places to eat – from traditional tavernas to fast food joints. After an evening meal and maybe a stroll along the promenade, there's lots of discos and bars to choose from – you'll be loathe to leave Corfu Town!
