The scorching sun all round the year means you can enjoy the sun bathing and fabulous tan anytime of the year.

It is the best place of golf lovers since it has is the new ‘Golf Mecca’ with 14 golf resorts.

There is lot of activities for the adventurous people as well. Skiing, bicycling, water sports, sky diving, horse riding, mountain climbing, windsurfing and many more.

It has about 70 magnificent coasts and beaches with blue waters giving the most splendid views.

The grand festival San Sebastian is the most attractive occasion of the island. With the fireworks, the local, international music and mouth-watering barbeque, the festival is mind-blowing.

It is rich in arts and cultural heritage, which can be seen in the monuments, museums, cathedrals and towers.

Magnificent Majorca

Majorca also known a Mallorca is one of the biggest islands of the three Balearic Islands. It is as attractive as its sister islands Ibiza and Menorca and lies in the south east coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. Tourism in Majorca developed only after 1920’s after the Spanish civil war. Until then it was an attraction mainly for scholars and artists.

Auditorio de Palma is one of the top ranking concert halls in Europe is located in Majorca. It boasts of a wonderful climate, fascinating landscapes and mixed people offering you with their cultural heritage.

Palma De Mallorca is the capital city of the Majorca. It is a pleasant city with yatches, cathedrals, palms giving it a natural feeling. There are a large number of monuments including the Gothic cathedral situated in the city.

As soon as you step Majorca you will find the landmark of the place to be the glorious 14th century Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is magnificent with its beautiful interiors, a door towards the sea, the chapels and the master works of the museum.

Along with the villages, beaches and monuments, Majorca’s nightlife is also very sparkling and animated making your whole holiday enjoyable one.

Quaint Town of Pollenca

The quiet town of Pollenca in the Balearic island of Majorca comes alive during the summer months and the religious holidays, when the whole town comes together to celebrate cultural and religious festivals.

Through the summer, Pollenca plays host to a classical music festival held annually. Many well known national and international musical talent participate in this festival. On Good Friday, a religious demonstration known as ‘davallament’ is enacted in front of townspeople. On this day, a figurine of Christ is carried from the 365 steps of the El Cavario church accompanied by drum beatings to the tune of the death march. Each of the 365 steps of the church represents one day of the year. El Cavario also houses a life-size painting of Virgin Mary, dating back to the 13th century.

The Roman-built aqueduct is something that you must see on your visit to Pollenca. Those visiting in August get the opportunity to watch the reenactment of Pollenca’s battle against Turkish pirates, in which the ancient townsfolk are said to have defeated the pirates after a bloody conflict.

Families on vacation must visit the Port De Pollenca, located 8km from the town of Pollenca. It is home to a horseshoe-shaped bay and boasts of beautiful landscape.

Majorca- Steeped in Spanish History

The very location of Majorca in the Mediterranean Sea tells its story. The island is believed to have been created 150 million years ago with the first settlers, cave dwellers, to have landed on the island somewhere from 6000 BC to 3000 BC.

The history of this Spanish island took a turn with the arrival of Romans in first few centuries of BC. The island remained a part of Rome for over five centuries during which they got their first roads, towns and were introduced to Christianity. 17th Century witnessed addition of Majorca to the Spanish territory for good.

You can visit the old, quaint city of Palma or spend a relaxing time on the beach. Boat trips can be had around the coast. You can also feast on the fresh seafood cuisine of Majorca. The monastery at Valldemossa is also worth a visit.

Majorca did not suffer from tragedies of Spanish Civil War though it did witness the dictatorial rule of Franco. Not only has the population of the island doubled since Franco’s time, but it has also become one of the wealthiest regions in Spain.

Bay of Gold – Cala D’Or

A small resort town in the south eastern coast of the island of Majorca is the Cala D’Or which also literally translates as the Golden coast. Cala D’Or has largely not been affected by tourists and this factor has significant preserved the beauty of the place. This resort is definitely not the place if you are looking for a developed resort like Magaluf and this might just be the place if you are looking for some place to relax and spend your time.

Cala D’Or has those lovely little houses like the ones in Ibiza and are painted in Mediterranean white. Cala D’Or is located about 75 kilometers from Palma and you could get a taxi to here from the Palma International Airport. The resort town has a number of traditional bars and taverns and the sandy beaches here are the most important attractions. The lovely fishing town of Porto Petro si only five minutes from here and is a must visit.

Beautiful Cala Bona

A beautiful resort town to the Eastern side of the island of Majorca, Cala Bona is pretty close to the resort of Cala Millor and is located in the municipal district of Son Servera. The nearest airport is the Son Sant Joan International Airport at Palma which is about 65 kilometers from the resort town. The name of the resort town translates as “The Good Bay” was earlier a small fishing village and is a popular among British tourists.

Cala Bona has small and narrow streets, which of course can be a nightmare if you even though about riding here. However, if you intend to walk around and explore the place, then you surely are going to love it. Cala Bona also has a small harbour that has a number of small open air cafes and bars. Cala Bona has a few sandy beaches with some rocky outgrowth and walking along the beach is a good experience. Cala Bona is a place for a relaxing holiday and just not the place if you are looking an active holiday!

Lively Alcudia

Alcudia is a history town with a lively resort in the lovely Spanish island of Majorca. Alcudia is considered to be one of the most important tourist destinations in the whole of Majorca. It also houses the Hotetur Bellevue complex which is considered to be the largest holiday resort complex in the whole of Europe. The town was ruled by the Romans and it’s the only place where people still speak the Gorenian language.

The town other than been known for its lovely beaches, Alcudia is also known for its colorful history and the beautiful historic monuments. The port of Alcudia was a popular one in the Roman times and the beach that is about 6 kilometers stretches almost till the C’an Picafort. The beach is shallow and is ideal if you have small kids in your trip. You could also hire a banana boat and pedal boats if you want to have some fun in the water. Also, do not forget to check out the old town of Alcudia!

Sierra de Tramuntana

There is more to Majorca than overcrowded beaches and rowdy tourists. The island has some very unique, pristine attractions that are just waiting to be discovered by the traveller. Running parallel to the coast of the beautiful Spanish island, Sierra de Tramuntana is a chain of mountains that are a curious departure from alpine resorts around the continent. The famed haunt of notable figures including artists and aristocrats, the beautiful mountain chain has an air of romance and mystery about it. With air as crisp as the higher Alps of Europe yet presenting some beautiful vistas of the deep blue Mediterranean from its pristine peaks, the Sierra de Tramuntana offer a unique experience that is unlike anything else in the Mediterranean region.

The highest peak of the Balearics, Puig Major stands proud at 1,445 metres above seal level. The region also posseses quaint little mountain villages such as Soller, Pollenca and Valldemossa. The tower of Sa Callobra presents a stunning view where the Sierra de Tramuntana meets the deep blue sea.

Water parks in Palma Nova

If you are a person that loves water parks then you probably should head to Palma Nova. Palma Nova is a great tourist resort in Majorca and it is known to have some of the best water parks in the whole of Europe. Be it the young or the old, you are sure to have lots of fun in some of the water parks you’ll find here. The water parks are also known to have other entertainments and even small zoos!

Aquacity, Aqualand and the Western Water park are some of the water park located in and around Palma Nova and Magaluf. Aqualand is located near Magaluf and has some great rides that gives you lots of adrenaline rush! It has something for all age groups and is open throughout the year except during the winter. Aquacity, located to the south of Mallorca is known to be one of the largest water parks in the world and has some great rides called Tsunami and the Devil’s Tail. When you visit Palma Nova, make sure you visit atleast one of the water parks – it’s something that’s not to be missed!
