Lanzarote is one of the beautiful Canary Islands situated 79 miles from the African coast. It is of volcanic origin and because of the eruptions in 18th and 19th century many parts appear to be from a different world and are portrayed as ‘Lunar’ and ‘Martin’.

Speaking of volcanoes, Lanzarote has the highest Volcanic Tunnel of the world called Atlantida Tunnel that is 7 km long. Lanzarote has beautiful white beaches like the Playa Blanca, papagayo. The golden sands of the Puerto del Carmen, Black sand at Playa Quemada and bleached white sands in the north just give you an amazing experience.

To let the serenity and style of Lanzarote stay intact there have been regulations on bill boarding and high rise buildings or apartments in Lanzarote.

The main attractions of the Lanzarote apart from the volcanoes and beaches include Castillo De San Jose a modern art gallery with a restaurant, the Wine Museum built over the volcanic lava, the cave of los verdas formed by the lava flows, guinate tropical park and Penguin Paradise which is a home for many species of exotic birds.

Lanzarote experiences a mild dry climate and annual rainfall of about 140mm which makes Lazanrote an ideal year round destination.

Relax on Lanzarote’s Beautiful Beaches

Lanzarote is located on the northern part of the Canary Islands. It is known for its volcanic peaks, estimated around 300, though most of it is defunct. The renowned sculptor and painter Cesar Manrique influence the whole island greatly. He leveraged this to shape the tourism policy of Lanzarote, preserving the purity of the island.

You will not find many tall buildings or hoardings in Lanzarote. Pretty villages, sculptures and wind chimes greet you throughout the area. Lanzarote offers beautiful beaches with golden shores and clean water. It has a fabulous climate all through the year including winter. People here are friendly and helpful.

You can fly to Lanzorte from Madrid or take chartered flights from Europe. Thursdays are usually busy as there are a number of flights arriving into this island. Trasmediterranea operates ferries to Lanzarote from the Spanish harbour Cadiz.

Lanzarote is a unique destination as this island offers beautiful beaches, fabulous environment and appealing holiday resorts. You have a wide range of choices for when it comes to accommodation and appealing cuisines that makes your holiday a memorable one. Exploring the beauty of Tias

Overlooking the resort town of Puerto del Carmen is the historic town of Tias. The town has a history dating back to the 15th century and the name Tias is known to have arised when the Governor of the region planned to name the town after his aunts and the word “tia” literally mean aunt in Spanish. Tias was mainly dependent on fishing and agriculture for its economy until the 1970’s when tourism became an important industry here. The town is well connected by air and is known to be the most popular tourist destination is the island of Lanzarote.

Tias boasts of a number of golden sanded beaches that attracts hundreds of tourists everyday. It is also home to a number of beautiful buildings with the Spanish touch example being the Church of Candeleria that was constructed way back in the 18th century. You could also check out the golf course or go for some shopping in the local boutiques and Tias is always full of surprises for the regular tourister.

Beautiful Lanzarote

Lanzarote, a beautiful island in the Atlantic is located 75 miles off the Africa shore. It has an area of 845 square kilometers and is the fourth largest of the Canary islands. The island was first named in the native language as Titerro(y)gatra which literally means “the red mountains”. It was later named after the Genoese navigator Lancelotto Malocello.

Lanzarote is volcanic in origin and the region is well known for its beaches of white,golden and black sand complemented by the beautiful and the tranquil waters of the Atlantic. You should checkout the Timanfaya National Park that consist of an arid volcanic region known for its hot geysers and which has been declared a Biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Lanzarote is also known to have the world’s largest submerged volcanic tunnel named the “Tunnel of Atlantis”. You can also rent a bicycle and go about cycling or play golf in the extensive golf courses found in many of the resorts.
