Mount Sinai, the famous mountain where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments from God is located in the Sinai peninsula of Egypt. It is a three hour drive from the renowned resort town of Sharm El-Sheik in Egypt. Mount Sinai is home to the Burning Bush and the Monastery of St’ Catherine which is known to be the world’s longest running monastery and was founded in the 6th century. Climbing Mount Sinai is an experience by itself.

You could climb the mountain early in the morning or even at sunset. The latter one is more popular among tourists as Mount Sinai offers some spectacular views when the sun sets! You could also climb the mountain on foot or by camel. You should take the Steps of Penitence which consists of more than 3700 steps if you plan to climb the mountain on foot. The camel path is rather gentle and not that steep and you could reach the top in about two and half hours.

When we think of Egypt, what comes to our mind is the majestic Sphinx and the towering pyramids. The pyramids of Egypt are some of the best works of art by mankind and I would say it should be one in the list of 50 places you should visit before you die! There are a number of pyramids in Egypt, but the Giza pyramid complex that lies on the outskirts of Cairo is the most famous one and reaching there is not at all a problem owing to  its proximity to the capital city of Egypt.

The Giza pyramids are among some of the largest structures ever to be built by mankind and consists of three large pyramids and six smaller ones. The pyramid complex along with the majestic sculpture of the Sphinx lies in the Giza plateau in the desert. I was dumbstruck when I first saw the towering pyramids especially the Great Pyramid of Giza which is the one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Do not miss out to capture the mesmerizing beauty of the pyramids when the sun sets in the desert!

Lying off the coast of East Africa, in the Indian Ocean is an archipelago of 115 islands called Seychelles. The islands are located near the island nation of Madagascar and have been a French colony since the Napoleonic wars. The islands were first discovered by the Europeans in the 16th century by the Portuguese traveler – Vasco- da-Gama. The island has a rather large French and Creole speaking population and French, Creole and English are the official languages. Seychelles has the Seychelles International Airport near Victoria, the capital of Seychelles which has flights operating to many international cities.

The island has a rather tropical and humid climate and the temperatures are low only during the rainy season which is when there are seasonal monsoons between May to September and from November to March. Seychelles has a number of virgin beaches largely untouched by humans and hence it is the perfect place for people looking for some beautiful beaches. The Aldabra atoll that runs for 22 miles is the world’s largest coral atoll and is located here. It is home to a number of endangered species like the Giant tortoise and the tiger shark. There are a number of opportunities for water sports and scuba diving, snorkeling and surfing are among other activities that one can indulge in when at Seychelles.

The name Egypt conveys  the idea that the place is all about Egyptian architecture and the pyramids. But there is lot more than just that when it comes to the Northern side of Egypt. With rose colored mountains flanking the sides of the Red sea, it extends from the Suez canal to the Sudanese border.

The Red sea in Egypt is known for some of the best beaches in Africa where one can go for diving. Lay back in the shores of the beautiful beaches and enjoy the splendor of the tranquil blue waters or even go ahead and have fun with lots of watersports. The Red sea region is also known for some fantastic holiday resorts at Taba and Sharm El Sheikh. Sharm El Sheikh is known to be one of the best place to holiday while in Egypt’s Red sea.

Get ready to experience the magic of Africa in the east African country of Kenya, the home to the second highest peak in the African continent, Mount Kenya. The name Kenya perhaps came from the name of the country tallest mountain,Mount Kenya. Fossils found in the Kenyan region indicate the presence of homo habilis from 1.8 to 2.5 millions years ago.

This east African country is known for its beautiful mountains and the African grasslands also called as Savannahs. Though Kenya has some beautiful beaches, beaches aren’t among the most preferred places here. You should check out the Tsavo National park where you can catch a glimpse of the tallest animals on earth, giraffes. The Kenyan land is also known for the tropical African grasslands called the Savannahs that is home to the majestic African lion and elephants. Europe, Spain — Tags: , , , — josh @ 10:39 am

Gran Canaria also known as Grand Canary is the third largest of the Canary islands and is located between Tenerife and Fuerteventura. The island is said to have been inhabited from 500 BC and is said to be the first place for Columbus to anchor before discovering the Americas. The island itself is often referred to as a mini continent owing to the differences in geography and climate in the various parts of the island. The northern side of the island is considered to be cooler than the rest of the island while the east is said to have beautiful beaches of uncompromising beauty. The western side of the island is mostly mountainous with a rocky seashore and hardly any beaches while the southern side is said to have a hot climate, predominantly an African climate.

Gran Canaria’s biggest attraction are the beautiful beaches, so beautiful that you feel the beaches in Spain are nothing compared to these. Almost one fourth of the island’s coastline is made up of beautiful beaches and the Puerto Rico and Maspalomas beaches are some of the best beaches of the island.
