Sosua – Paradise in the Dominican Republic
29th February, 2012
We all love to have plenty of choice when it comes to what we can do on our holidays, especially when that holiday is somewhere abroad! That's why the little town of Sosua located in the Dominican Republic would make a great choice for when you decide to pick your destination for your well-earned 2012 holiday! Already sounds too exotic for you? Nonsense! Here at Sunmaster, we offer some amazing cheap holiday deals all-year-round to many fantastic destinations in not only Europe, but The America's and India also, not to mention the many stunning Caribbean resorts that are just so incredible! ...And that's where Sosua comes in! Located to the north of the island in the Puerto Plata Province, Sosua offers some great sites to either keep you on your feet or off depending on your personal requirements! If you would prefer to stay off your feet as much as possible then Sosua's main beach known as Playa Sousa is the primary destination for you once you reach the island! Stretching for approximately 1km, Playa Sousa boasts beautiful white sand and blue waters and with the characteristic beach shacks that line the back of the beach where you will be able to buy food, snacks, drinks and souvenirs, and with the friendly locals (most of whom love tourists) you will really feel part of the community! There are also some water activities to take advantage of including snorkelling! If you decide to walk to the end of the beach, you will find the El Batey neighbourhood, which was originally formed by a group of Jews who travelled to the area during the horrendous events of WWII. Since then, the area has been growing and contains a museum documenting the history of the Jewish community within Sosua. A very interesting piece of history and culture lies here to be discovered! At the other end of the beach you will find the locals neighbourhood, which although is not as pretty as El Batey, contains a lot more nightlife and some more 'rugged' attractions such as cockfighting! There are also plenty of other more mainstream activities available in the area, such as Jeep Tours, Deep Sea Fishing, Whitewater Rafting, Swimming hole adventures, Horse Riding and Mountain Biking! Whatever your tastes, Sosua is a great location to choose for your next holiday and with our cheap holidays available throughout the year, Sunmaster are here to help.
