Mellieha – The laid back destination you’ve been looking for!
9th March, 2012
The sun-drenched town of Mellieha is the perfect destination if you are looking for a peaceful place to get away to and escape the workload of daily life back in the UK! Located on the northern tip of Malta, Mellieha offers two beautiful sandy beaches (one of which is said to be the best in the whole of Malta) where you can work on that holiday tan and bronze yourself up without any trouble, but make sure that you don't forget your sun lotion, as the baking sun can be quite overwhelming to foreign skin and the lobster-look is definitely out this season! The water is a beautiful blue and almost crystal clear, so you can take to the waters and enjoy a bit of swimming as well as snorkelling where you can see if you can sneak a peak at some of the sea life that dwells in the shallows! For the nature lovers, there is a good selection of attractions that offer an inside look at nature & wildlife such as Majjistral Nature park where you can take part in guided walks of the reserve and enjoy all of the natural sites the park has to offer! There is also Ghadira Nature Reserve, which is perfect for the Bird Watching enthusiast as it consists of mostly wetlands and salt marshes! Winged wildlife most definitely favours it over any other area of the region! Believe it or not, there is also the chance to experience a little bit of the Film Industry in Mellieha, as the 1980 film Popeye was filmed in the area on location and as a result, there now stands a wooden village that was used for the film and it still stands today! Popeye village makes a perfect photo opportunity, and if you're seen the film, a perfect scene-spotting opportunity! Although the nightlife is quiet, there is still a few bars where you can chill out and have a drink and to keep you entertained and some very lovely restaurants to take advantage of such as Bouquet Garni, where you can enjoy some delicious, traditional recipes and dishes! Overall, Mellieha is a great destination to holiday to if you need to recharge your batteries! It's important for us all to relax and take the chance to get away from it all , so why not take advantage of the fantastic holiday deals here at Sunmaster and book your 2012 holidays now to avoid potential disappointment later on!
