Like many of our great destinations around
the world, the city of Larnaca in Cyprus has something to offer everyone and thanks to it being conveniently located amidst other great towns and resorts, you will easily be able to visit other great areas so you can take full advantage of everything that this beautiful country has to offer!
If beaches are what you’re after then you will be spoiled for choice, as Larnaca and the surrounding areas have a great selection of superb beaches ready and waiting to be taken advantage of. The closest beach to the city and one of the best in Cyprus is Phoinikoudes Beach. Thanks to it’s blue flag status, you can rest assured that it is clean, safe and perfect for all beach lovers, no matter what kind of beach you’re used to! There are plenty of chances to get refreshed along the promenade and thanks to the substantial size of the beach itself, there will always be plenty of space for everyone, even in the busier summer months!
Another great beach to enjoy is McKenzie beach located a little further away towards the airport. Here you will be able to enjoy an atmosphere that’s a little more peaceful than the others nearby, but you will still have the same kind of sand and warm waters to put to good use! There is also the chance to learn to dive in Larnaca, so you can see the deep blue sea from where it really counts, 40 metres down! However, if you would rather stick to a bit of snorkeling or even banana boating then there’s the chance to do that also!
Larnanca is one of the oldest cities in the whole of Cyprus, with some evidence even indicating it was inhabited up to six thousand years ago! But although you may not be able to visit any structures anywhere near that old, there is still plenty of ‘younger’ ancient architecture to be admired, such as the Church of Lazarus, which dates from around the 9th century and houses the tomb of St Lazarus and is of course incredibly beautiful and awe-inspiring – a must visit!
There is also plenty to keep the kids entertained such as Camel Park where the little ones will be able to take a ride on a camel! As well as interacting with smaller animals such as donkeys and goats in the petting zoo! This makes a great day out for all and will no doubt give the kids something special to remember the holiday by.
