Magical Cuenca

Cuenca is a Spanish city, great for a holiday especially for those who admire natural beauty. Located between the gorges of Jucar and Huecar rivers, Cuenca is divided into the old city and the new city.

The old city has a number of hanging houses including several museums and churches from the 15th century that draw a lot of visitors from all over the world. These houses appearing to be suspended over the edge of the cliff have been one of the main attractions in the city for a long time. The city centre is also adorned by a Gothic cathedral.

Just outside Cuenca, you will find the Serranía de Cuenca massif with breathtaking gorges and waterfalls.

Despite having retained its natural beauty, the city has several modern art galleries and numerous restaurants and bars. Though you might not find a lot of major commercial establishments around, the native population is very welcoming and friendly to the visitors. However, be prepared to use sign language if you do not know any Spanish because most people in Cuenca do not speak English.

Cuenca has a Mediterranean climate, so the best time to visit it is during the spring and autumn seasons.
