Medieval Lindos

A small yet beautiful medieval town to the Southeastern region of the island of Rhodes is Lindos. Situated about 56 kilometers from the capital city of Rhodes, Lindos is popular for its medieval architecture as well as beaches. The town was once fortified by the Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman rulers and consists of a number of buildings that date back to the 16th, 17th and the 18th century. If you really love history and ancient architecture, then this is just the place for you.
The Lindos village is perfectly set in the hillside and it is a really beautiful sight to see the houses lined up in the hill with the Acropolis in the background. A major part of the town has cobbled streets and walking down the streets of the medieval town is an experience by itself. The Doric Temple of Athena Lindia, The Hellenistic stoa and the Castle of the Knights of St’John are some of the important places of interest.
