Halkidiki or Chalkidiki is one of the regions of Greece and is located to the northeastern part of the Aegean sea. The region resembles fingers in the legs and contains the Mount Athos and several other monasteries. The ancient city of Stageira located in this region is considered to be the birth place of the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle.

The western side of Halkidiki, the Kassandra peninsula is by far the most popular tourist destination in the Greek mainland. People who want to relax and take a break from their rather busy life come here for a holiday and go back with their energy recharged. Pefkohori and Hanioti are known to have some of the best beaches in Halkidiki. Pefkohori is known to have beaches of golden sands that have pine trees in the background while Hanioti is known for its white sanded beaches. Beaches are not the only attractions here in Halkidiki, which is home to a number of monasteries and place of historical interest.
