Izmir is a beautiful city located in the Mediterranean country of Turkey. Situated on the southwestern coast of Turkey, Izmir is a large bustling port as well as a popular holiday resort. Known to the ancients as Smyrna, this city has the Gulf of Izmir named after itself. The city is one of few constantly inhabited cities of the world, with a recorded urban history spanning back 3500 years.

Izmir was so beautiful and resplendent that it attracted many conquerers, ranging from the Lydians to the ancient Greeks. A lucrative trading port with a beautiful climate, the city was one of the most important social centres of the ancient world. Today, Izmir boasts of a variety of cultural attractions. Ranging from the excavated Agora (an ancient Greek market) to the archaeological Mueseum, the city of Izmir has a rich and varied historical heritage.

If you’re more into sun and sand, look no further than the beach. Izmir has some of the most beautiful and serene beaches on the Mediterranean rim. Head out of town and the white powdery sands of the Altinkum beach beside the azure Aegean sea will sooth and refresh you.

An African holiday in Tunisia

When you want to experience Africa and the Mediterranean climate likewise, then Tunisia in North Africa is where you have to go. The name of Tunisia came from its capital city of Tunis and also evolved as a result of French geographers giving new names to their territories. It shares its boundaries with 2 countries, Algeria and Libya. Around forty percent of the country’s area is a part of the Sahara desert.

There are lots of place to visit in this beautiful North African country. Castles and fortresses that remind you of the place’s glorius past or the beautiful beaches with golden sands and with the pleasant Mediterranean climate. You can also have fun by indulging in some water sports or go on an African safari. Catch a glimpse of the world’s biggest desert,the Sahara and go on a camel ride. Night time is when the  country comes to life, there is so much activity in the street with eateries and souvenir shops, fire breathers and snake charmers. Holiday to Tunisia once and you’ll feel that you’ve had a magical Arabian holiday!

Destination in Eurasia – Turkey

Turkey, located in the Anatolian peninsula is often referred as a Eurasian country as it lies in between Europe and Asia and it was one of the oldest inhabited regions in the world. The country is bounded by eight different countries. Owing to the low costs of holidays in compared to the rest of the continents in Europe, Turkey has remained a popular tourist destination among tourists along with Bulgaria.

When it comes to Turkey, all that comes into your mind is beaches, resorts and hot Turkish baths. There are a number of places to visit and a holiday to Turkey should be a bit long one if you wanted to visit all the places of natural beauty. Blue Lagoon in Olu Deniz is one such place of heavenly beauty where the waters are clear and calm and has hence become a place for many water sports and also a safe place for children to swim. You also get to explore the beautiful ruins of Athena and Apollo temple at Side, a beautiful town at around 75 kms from Antalya. Side is also known for its golden beaches and has lots of attractions for all ages likewise.

Beautiful Zante

Zakynthos or Zante, the third largest of the Ionian islands is located in the Ionian sea and is an island in Greece. It has a 76 mile coastline and takes its name from a legendary Arcadian chief’s son. Zante is in close proximity to the mainland as well as to Corfu and a number of cheap flights operate between them.  If you are thinking of a holiday with white sands and great beaches and coves, then Zante in Greece is the right place for you.

Archeological findings hold that the island was inhabited right from the Neolithic age and the renowned poet, Homer has mentioned these islands in his works, the Iliad and Odyssey. Zante has a number of beautiful beaches and the Shipwreck beach is the most famous of them, as it has white sand beach surrounded on all sides by high rocks. Zante is also known for Scuba diving as due to the exceptionally large number of caves in the region that sport a variety of marine life. So, thinking of holidaying in Greece? Costa Blanca – The White coast

Costa Blanca which literally means White coast in English refers to over 120 miles of coastline in the Spanish province of Alicante. Its in the southeastern part of the country in the Valencia region and is considered as one of the best holiday destinations in Europe and is popular among German and British tourists. Costa Blanca is known for the its white sand beaches that look beautiful in the ocean’s blue background and the entire coastline is dotted with a number of beaches. You can also choose to play a game of beach volleyball in one of the beautiful beaches or go about and get into some water sports!

Benidorm is a resort that is located in Costa Blanca and it has remained the tourist favorite resort town. Alicante is another city in the region of Valencia and is known for its heritage buildings and its historic Mediterranean port. Also do not forget to check out the special seafood in the region.

Corfu – The ideal Greek holiday!

Corfu, is  the second largest of the Ionian islands and is located in the Ionian sea to the western side of Greece. The island is perhaps the only one that has deep roots into Greek mythology. It was related to the Greek god of the seas,Poseidon and Asopos, an important river in the mainland. The capital city of Corfu has three castles and hence the city is referred to as Kastropolis or Castle city.

Corfu is known for its beaches with clear waters and white sands and are also known for the various water sports.  Scuba diving and snorkeling are some of the tourists most favorite sports. Corfu is also known for its beautiful countryside with olive groves and wineyards. And if you are someone with a flair for history, then the Antivouniotissa Byzantine Museum is worth visiting as it features some of the rarest Byzantine art. Another place to visit in Corfu is the town of Sidari, which is known for its beaches and the night life. Visiting Corfu once will always make you want more of a Greek holiday!

Bulgaria

Bulgaria, a country in the European continent is bounded by five countries and by the Black sea on the East. Perhaps its the only country in the European continent with extremes in both geographical and climatic conditions. It has snow capped Alpine mountains with an alpine climate  in  Rila and Pirin to the mild and sunny climate in the Black sea coast to the east and the pleasant Mediterranean climate in the southern parts.

Bulgaria has become a popular tourist destination in Europe owing to the low costs compared to the rest of the European countries. It has ski-resorts in Samokov and Bansko and spa resorts in Bankya and Hisarya that attracts a number of tourists throughout the year. If you are looking for some beaches, then you sure shouldn’t miss the Golden Sands- a resort town in Varna that is located on the Black sea coast. The presence of lush vegetation and a mild climate along with hot mineral springs in the region and beaches make the region as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Eastern Europe.

Land of the Amazon – Brazil

Are you planning to make your trip to Latin America? Well, then most of your destinations will be in Brazil, the continent’s biggest country. Almost the entire Amazon forest is in the heart of the country and the country has a varied vegetation and climate owing to its huge size. There are lots of places to visit in Brazil and when you plan to visit the place, make sure you take a long vacation!

Rio de Janiero, one of the most romantic cities in the world is home to a world wonder, the statue of Christ the Redeemer on top of a mountain. This place also has a name for the carnival that is organised here every year. You might wanna check it out sometime. Salvador, is another great place to visit, traces back Brazil’s history to the colonial times. Some of the famous musicians in Brazil are from Salvador. The Amazon might be the biggest river running through the country but it is more than just a river, it consists of the intese tropical forests and the entire region surrounding the river. Do not forget the Iguazu falls that lies on the Brazilian -Argentina border. With approximately 275  drops, and at 2.7 kilometeres long, it is a magnificant sight to see the waterfalls from the Brazilian side.

Barbados – The Caribbean paradise

Looking for a calm and relaxing holiday? Then Barbados may be the just the place for you. Located in the Atlantic ocean just to the east of the Caribbean sea, the island is a part of the Lesser Antilles and experiences tropical climate with a constant winds that keep the climate mild. The island is known for its pristine beaches and clear waters. If you really one looking for adventure, then you should probably try the submarine trip and enjoy the beauty of the oceans, the colorful fishes and the coral reefs.

Food lovers have something too, there are a number of local speciality dishes that you might wanna check out. In fact there are restaurants with just fresh fruits and seafood on their menu. And to cherish those memorable days you spent on the island, go to the souvenir shops that sell a number of handcrafted items and other things. Barbados is warm through out the year and is the ideal destination for someone looking for a romantic holiday with tropical climate!

The Bahamas

Located in the Atlantic ocean, is the Commonwealth of Bahamas a group of 2387 islands of extraordinary beauty. The islands are located to the north of the Carribean sea and to the east of the United States of America. The biggest and the most famous of the islands are the Paradise Island/Nassau Island, Grand Bahama islands and the Out islands. If its sandy white beaches and crystal clear waters that you are looking for, then this is the right place for you.

Your trip to the Bahamas can be really memorable if you took the various water sports or a swim with the dolphins. Baked crab is a local delicacy that you should never miss when visiting the Bahamas. If you are looking to buy some souvenirs, then you have plenty of things to choose from, straw items, handicrafts,local arts etc.  If its the tropical climate that you want to experience, then June to September would be the right time and the temperature tops at 31 C. This place is essentially about sand, sea and the sun and will be the perfect destination for anyone looking for some tropical experience.
